    I went back to this thread I found and realized that the IPT I was asking about was Insulin Potentiation Therapy. The guy who brought this up in this thread stopped posting in 2004 and has not responded to any of the posts since. Does anyone know anymore about this?

    Hi Raye,
    Did not know you had the same results.. :-) which makes one wonder why brachytherapy is not standard ( outside the protocol) therapy. I did email one woman on here recently whose husband did brachy ( in PA I believe) but was not in a protocol and also had the tumor destroyed. This was the first time I had heard of this outside the protocol.

    Anyone have any thoughts?? the only thing I can remember the mayo saying was that it destroys other ‘stuff’ around the area so the patient may eventually need a transplant from the damage alone.. but maybe that is not the worst scenario IF it can succeed in killing the tumor??

    If anyone can ask their doc and get back to the board I would really like to find an answer. It has no side effects like chemo or radiation ( that I recall my mother having).

    Ashley is correct about the brachytherapy. I had this completed at the Mayo and the tumor was destroyed completely. The tumor was autopsied after surgery and it was nothing but a flat, thin, layer of nothing showing no activity whatsoever. No marker reading and no cells during the layered microscopic examinations.

    There is also brachytherapy treatment – part of the mayo protocol. radioactive beads are inserted into the tumor area down the throat assisted by robotics. My mother had this treatment last fall. Either this OR the radiation did a number on her tumor because it was not viable once they examined her liver after transplant.

    hi jeff , my mame is ron, i have heard of seeds, they are little radio active pellets placed in the cancerous tumor and left there to dissolve …..i dont think it is a form of chemo treatment, but i could be wrong….my wifes father had seeds placed in his prostate about 5 years ago and he is doing really very well….i never heard of this type treatment being used for cc, but again i hope im wrong….this type of treatment sounds similar to the y-90 my wife had, why they call one seeds and the other y-90 i dont know, but right now my thoughts are not working so well.. the point is they both place radio active pellets in the body, a form of internal radiation. i hope this is of help to you……….ron

    Jeff…I believe that you are talking about Internal Radiation Therapy. There are several: Theraspere, SIR-Sphere, Yttrium-90 Microsphere Radioembolization. Trough catheter tiny microscopic beads are delivered to the tumor via blood supply to the liver. (Hepatic artery.) Several of our posters had this procedure with good results. Until other have a chance to respond you might want to use the search function which will lead you to some previous postings.

    There is just so much to read on this discussion board. I want to know if there are any updates on IPT and if anyone has heard of a Chemo treatment called Seeds and does it have anything to do with CC?
