Yes, I was on Irinotecan for approx. 3 months, December thru February. I had SEVERE diarrhea which resulted in my potassium level dropping very low. I also spent 3 weeks on the couch because I was too weak to get up. I did not have any pain or vomiting. My oncologist did lower my dose of the Irinotecan by 1/2 and gave my an Rx for lomotil which controlled the diarrhea. Topcatj, I will add Dennis to my prayer list.

    Hi,
Irinotecan is not an easy medication to take;tough on the patient compare to other regimen;hospitalization is more often than not ;side effects of diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, dehydration etc are between 45-80% for each of them.
Regardless of what other chemotherapy agents used with irinotecan, adverse events of abdominal pain is about 57-67%;anemia(60-96%) just to name a few. therefore hospitalization due to side effects of irinotecan is not uncommon.
    God bless.
