Lisa…my husband never experienced any pain….discomfort yes but, never anything strong enough for him to ask for pain pills. There are several postings on this site where pain did not become an issue at all.

My husband Tom was diagnosed in July 2007-didn’t require any pain meds until Nov. 2007–pain patch, Fentynal was the best thing he received in Dec. 2007

Lisa – I agree with Jeff that this is not unusual. My husband never experienced any pain during his illness and, even during our grief over losing him in March ’07, we have always been thankful for this. It must have something to do with where the tumors are located. I pray you remain pain-free–and that you win your battle with this horrible disease.

    My prayers are with you,

    Juanita

Hi Lisa… Nothing unusual. I went six years after resection before I needed some pain relief. It all depends on the location of your tumor or tumors in my case, how fast /slow they are growing and if they create pressure on central nervous system nerves. Also, Like myself when it mets to the bones and creates a fracture. Bottom line, you could go for a very long time without needing Pain medications. I have known someone personally who took no pain meds until a week before his death. Then again I knew someone who took to much pain meds because they just wanted to be numb to the whole process. Size and location and pressure on nerves; also inflamation of lymp nodes main cause in my opinion.
    God Bless,

I’m wondering because I haven’t had any pain so far. Does it start in the later stages? Or is my case unusual? I’ve only been diagnosed since 8/07 and its now 12/21/07.

The only time I had pain was in the beginning when they were draining the bile to a bag outside of my body for two weeks. YUCK! ARG!
