JuliaI have a partial biliary obstruction from scar tissue that formed after my liver resection. This causes me to itch from head to toe. Blood work shows all of my numbers in the normal range except for one, ALT which is elevated. My doctor presribed Atarax which did not help at all and made me very sleepy. Then he prescribed Questran (generic = Cholestyramine) and it has stopped the itching. I take a 9 gram packet 2 times a day. It works by removing bile acids from the body. Its a wonderful medicine! So far, no side effects.
