Thanks for joining us Nancy, I’m sure you will be a big support to parents. I can’t begin to imagine how hard it must be to have a child go through it.
KateNovember 15, 2010 at 2:45 pm #44231nur1954SpectatorThank you all for the great big welcome. I know John found a lot of support on this web site and it was the one place he could go when he had questions or needed advice. I hope to be able to share and help where needed. – Nancy
November 15, 2010 at 1:25 pm #44230lainySpectatorA big welcome to you, John Ur’s Mom! I think it is a great idea to get some perspective here from a Mom that can help the ‘younger’ people. It just hurts my heart so much when we see the “kids” that come aboard. And as we know “mom’s” give good advise!
November 15, 2010 at 10:04 am #44229magicSpectatorNancy,I loved his blog and followed it closely,he had a way with the words! As a mother of 3 sons from teens to mid twenties I certainly worried and fretted over his progress,as an RN knowing where it was going was difficult.But..I certainly remember him well. Welcome to our little nest of comfort. The advice and insight of those who have experience with this cancer is so important.

I am so glad you are here!! You have picked me up on more than once and it would be great if other members got that same support.Kris
November 14, 2010 at 7:22 pm #44226nur1954SpectatorThank you, Marion. Yes, I love Kris and I love her strength and attitude. I always tell her she reminds me so much of my John. I must say that my head is foggy when it comes to the year of John’s treatments but I will try to share my knowledge of what he went through whenever I can. I also want to be supportive – in particular – to any parent who is dealing with this disease. It’s so much rarer in young folks so the support in this area is not as strong as it could be.
November 14, 2010 at 6:12 pm #44225marionsModeratorHello Nancy….thank you so very much for joining in on our discussion board. Although, rarely do I go to facebook (I simply do not have enough time) I have noticed that you are a big supporter of our Kris and she is equally as fond of you.
Nancy, I could not agree more with anything you have mentioned regarding your dear son John and he very much left a deep hole in our heart also. Your joining in on this board returns to us John in a special way. Your experience with this disease is extensive and sharing your knowledge with others is invaluable to us. Therefore, thank you Nancy, and a warm welcome to you.
Best wishes,
MarionNovember 14, 2010 at 5:56 pm #4323nur1954SpectatorHello Everyone – Although many of you knew John, you didn’t know me. I have often visited this web site for support since John’s passing a year ago. It was hard for me to have the energy to write but I am now feeling able to join in on discussions and, hopefully, offer advice when I can. For those who followed John’s blogs, I wish to thank you all for all the love and support you gave him during his battle. My husband and I miss him dearly. He was an incredible son and a wonderful human being. We are forever blessed for having him in our lives for 30 years. I will always be grateful for the wonderful things you all do – Nancy
