slester –
Glad to hear your side effects of chemo are minimal. I too am new to the site although have been on Gemzar for 7 months. Don’t worry about the staging right now, it just helps the doctors to decide on which treatment to employ. Keep the fighting spirit and we’ll all hope and pray for tumor shrinkage. Warmest Regards from North Atlanta area!
– MarkMarch 2, 2010 at 9:01 pm #36075marionsModeratorslester……great to hear that you are faring well with the protocol. I am crossing my fingers for tons and tons of “SHRINKAGE”.
Best wishes,
MarionMarch 2, 2010 at 8:48 pm #36074slesterMemberso far no side effects from the chemo. occasional nausea that passes quickly. I keep compazine with me all the time and crackers! I have found if I go too long without food, the nausea hits. I haven’t been told what stage I am in….based on what I’ve read it is probably Stage IIB. Haven’t asked…not sure if I want to know right now. I have not heard the drs put a timeline on my prognosis…again haven’t asked. I know at some point I will need to know these things but I think I will wait until I have another scan to see if shrinkage has occured.
February 28, 2010 at 8:36 pm #36073marionsModeratorslester…..Good luck with your clinical trial. I hope that you don’t mind but, I pulled the info.

MarionFebruary 28, 2010 at 3:19 pm #36072lainySpectatorSlester, you are already a hero being a Special Ed teacher. That is wonderful.
We will be watching your trial with ARQ 197 and hoping for the very best.
My brother lives in Chattanooga and I have a nephew in Nashville. Lovely area Tennessee. I am also one who tried to “check” my emotions and one day I exploded, but it was a good thing. Once in a while it is a good thing to let go.
That does not mean we are still not strong. You will find, on our Board, people who are kicking the odds and so many here helping each other. It is an amazing “Family”. Please keep us posted on how your Trial is going. Best of luck.February 28, 2010 at 3:09 pm #36071slesterMemberI am an 8th grade special education teacher from Tennessee. Currently undergoing treatment at Sarah Cannon Research Institute in Nashville, TN. I am in the clinical trials for ARQ 197 phase I. I take 6 pills a day and am also undergoing weekly treatments with Gemzar.
it is great to have a site to go to and know that everyone will understand my questions and fears as well as a little dose of anger. I try to keep my emotions in check and remain positive but sometimes it is hard.
