AGHHHHHHH! As if you guys don’t have enough on your plates. Say, not sure if I ever asked you about getting another opinion? It can’t hurt and I don’t believe the ONCs care, they understand. New pairs of eyes may see something different. Come vent here anytime. Good news that you won, just so much BS you don’t need right now. Please think about another opinion just to have crossed all your options.
November 15, 2013 at 2:22 pm #75409lisacraineSpectatorGreat news he is a candidate for surgery. Sending good thoughts.
LisaNovember 11, 2013 at 11:27 pm #75408claremSpectatorMy sister had portal vein embolisation to grow the part of her liver that was to be left behind after her resection. It did not grow as much as they hoped but it did increase. I’m sorry I can’t comment more as to if they can repeat the procedure or what the alternatives are.
November 11, 2013 at 6:11 pm #75407lainySpectatorWow, It’s a good news/not so good news story. Hang in and hang on. I am also anxious to hear what the ONC has to say as I have not heard of this before. I am elated though that the Cancer was held at bay.
November 11, 2013 at 5:28 pm #75406marionsModeratorDakota…..I believe that our Kris has portal vein embolization, which redirects the blood supply to the healthy portion of the liver to stimulate cell growth before surgery. I am hoping for her to chime in.
There have been others and I hope for those to chime in and share their thoughts with you.

MarionNovember 11, 2013 at 5:04 pm #75405lainySpectatorHi Dakota. Did you mean the Cancer did not grow? If the liver actually did not grow I am sorry about that but had not heard of that before. What do they suggest to do now?
October 18, 2013 at 6:43 am #75404gavinModeratorHi Dakota,
Thanks for the update on Ron, my dad was called Ron too! I too see lots of good news in your update and no tumour growth, we love hearing that round here! And the walking with the kids is great on many fronts. Not only has it helped with the drop in pant sizes and led to a reduction in his diabetes meds, it is a great way to get both exercise and spending good time with the kids too. Exercise is good for all and what a great way to get it!
Hopefully the liver will start to grow again soon and it is great to hear as well that surgery has not been ruled out either. And the jaundice gone too, more excellent news as well. Hopefully you will have more good news to share after the Nov visit, fingers are crossed for that!
Hugs,
Gavin
October 18, 2013 at 4:13 am #75403marionsModeratorDakota….I love the good news and the fact that his tumor continues to stay stable. Here is to no growth in tumor and tons of growth in liver.

MarionSeptember 24, 2013 at 9:13 pm #75402claremSpectatorI’ve got everything crossed that the embolisation does it’s thing and your husbands liver grow, grow, grows.

September 19, 2013 at 9:31 pm #75399marionsModeratorDakotabeann….tons of good wishes are heading your way. I just know how stressful this time can be for the loved ones awaiting an answer. Hang in there. Best of all luck.

MarionSeptember 19, 2013 at 8:59 pm #75398lainySpectatorDear Dakotabeann, waiting is the worst isn’t it? The good news is they are doing something. To me the longer it takes the better it is as, if they found something more they would probably stop. Be strong as you will know soon. I know you will let us know!
September 12, 2013 at 4:16 pm #75397lainySpectatorGreat news, Dakotabeann, we love the word surgery. I am so excited for you and Ron. Do you know where the surgery would be? Wow! I love to start the day with this kind of good news. GO PACK GO! I am from Milwaukee we were almost neighbors. Have an awesome weekend.
September 12, 2013 at 6:26 am #75396gavinModeratorHi Dakotabean,
Thanks for your update and for sharing your news with us all. IMO that is good news that the cancer has not spread to the pancreas leaving the option of surgery still open for your husband. I know you say that for every 2 steps forward it means one back, but sometimes that happens and is necessary and at least you are still moving forwards.
Your medical team sound like they have a good plan in place and my fingers are crossed that it will work out as planned and lead to a successful surgery for your husband. Sounds to me as well that they are well trained with some good experience even if they are perhaps a bit younger. Stay strong and keep us updated on how everything goes for you both.
My best wishes to you both,
Gavin
