Cyndi,
I am sorry to hear this news of Linda. I so hope that Linda’s nurse can get her pain under control and that she can be made as comfortable as possible. Thinking of you and Linda right now and sending you both a load of hugs.

I am so sorry to hear this news. I have gotten to know Linda through our e-mails She is one amazing person. I got to talk to her the other day and she sounded so strong and was glad to be at her mother’s home.
Please let her know that we are all thinking of her.
She will continue to be in my prayers.

I am so sorry to hear this news, please tell Linda that many are thinking of her and sending good wishes. As Marion already posted, we got to meet Linda in person and she showed us Kevin’s picture and I know what she most wants is to take care of him. I am praying she gets her strength back and rallies.

He is sleeping better. We are so thankful. He also has to take ativan periodically even when he thinks he does not need it. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you navigate this difficult process. Let’s pray for a rally. Blessings, Susan
January 7, 2011 at 3:23 am #46453nur1954SpectatorCyndi – Great advice from Lainy. It is so hard to admit to ourselves that a disease can be progressing, but it is most important that comfort remain the #1 thing on everyone’s agenda. Oxygen can help as Lainy said. It was good that Linda could eat a bit. Wishing you all well – Nancy
January 6, 2011 at 10:40 pm #46452lainySpectatorDear Cyndi, I am so very sorry to hear of this turn of events. The bottom line and the most important thing is for the patient to be comfortable. I know that Teddy did not want to go on Oxygen but once he did he was so much more comfortable. It can help with the pain as well as all around comfort and breathing. I have to be brutally honest here and say that while we don’t want to admit our loved ones are taking another step down, it is paramount that we keep them as comfortable as we can even if it means progressing to the next step. IF we don’t keep them quiet and comfortable it elevates the anxiety and the pain and uses up all their energy. Just have been there done that. My suggestion is to get Linda on Oxygen and maybe her pain meds need to be elevated. If the pain is allowed to rumble on its own, it then becomes harder to get under control. Please give my love to Linda.
January 6, 2011 at 10:06 pm #4584psilMemberLinda is not doing well. At 11p last night, her mom said the pain was so bad that she gave her an Ativan and then called the Hospice nurse. She was at a patient’s home about an hour away and arrived to see Linda around midnight. She was there until about 1:30a when she finally had Linda’s pain managed with the aid of multiple morphine doses. Linda slept until 9a and was able to eat a little oatmeal for breakfast. Mom reports that Linda is quite agitated and complaining that she can’t breath when she eats…however she seems to be able to breath and talk quite a bit.
Linda’s regular nurse came to drain fluid and later talked quietly with Mom… that she feels Linda is deteriorating. We don’t want to believe this and are praying that with fluid drained and pain managed, she’ll rest more comfortably and rally again… We welcome your thoughts and prayers…
