My husband Steve was diagnosed with a Klatskin tumor in Dec. 2005. He was deemed unresectable and 5 metal stents were placed. He then had radiation with Cyberknive and oral Xeloda. The tumor was unable to be seen on Cat Scan and Petscan and he felt great for about 9 months. This July he started having rigors, fever and increased pain. Catscan showed he had multiple small abscesses and one large abscess. An external drain has been placed to drain the abscess and he has been on I.V. and oral antibiotics but continues to culture out one bacteria after the other. He has lost alot of weight and has little energy. Is anyone else having similar problems with stents or abscess. Steve is being treated at UC San Francisco, but I’m starting to feel like we need to search other medical centers since UCSF is having little success in there treatment. Would love to hear if anyone is having better luck with this. Janel
