Hey Rick, if you are getting jaundiced, my advice is to get to the doctor right away and see what the problem is. I just got out of the hospital yesterday because I didn’t pay enough attention to the symptoms of infection. I think the infection clouds my judgement and I don’t think I am as sick as I really turn out to be.
Regarding lung mets: My lungs look like a star field in the CT scan, and I have a 1 cm and a 2 cm tumor in my lungs. However, I remain symptom free as far as the lungs are concerned.

The yellowing of the eyes, skin and the darker urine is possibly due to a blockage in the bile duct. This is what my husband Tom experienced and a CTScan revealed a reoccurance of a tumor after a successful resection of the liver. Jaundice is never a good sign. If you have a liver stent it could also mean that the stent is plugged and may be time for a stent exchange. Call your doctor asap.
Go with God and KEEP KICKIN’ THAT cancer
MargaretMay 7, 2010 at 9:30 pm #37822rick-kampMemberThank you Kris and Pam for the replys. I am probably just a worry wort when it comes to the this. The symptoms have gone away for the last day or 2 and I’m thinking it might be more allergy related but I’ll still bring it up with my ONC. I have a scan scheduled for this coming Thursday anyway and that should clear it up.
Unfortunately though, I am now noticing a little bit of yellowing in my eyes and skin. It is very faint but I’m fairly sure it is the begining of jaundice as my urine has become darker as well. So frustrating. I’m not sure if it is a result of the cholangitis infection or if it is tumor or stent related. I know that the bilirubin levles can go up with a cholangitis infection so I’m hoping that is what is causing this and not tumor advancement. I will be incredibly anxious to get my scan done next week and get the results from it.
Has anyone else experienced jaundice that was related to a cholangitis infection?

When my Mom was diagnosed she had extensive lung mets. She had a bout of pleurisy and they did a CT scan to r/o a blood clot. When I viewed her CT scans it looked as if someone had sprinkled her lungs with stars. That led to another scan and testing and then the diagnosis of CC. She had no symptoms at all and at the time was still working full time (work was a hobby for her) and she was walking 5 to 10 miles a day.
She never had any breathing problems at all during her illness.
You may be experiencing allergies or pollen related problems. Keep an eye on things and mention it again to your doctor if it continues.
Great report on the CA19-9 levels! Hang in there!
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers!
Hugs!

I know there are people here with lung mets, but I am completely drawing a blank as to who they are now.I know that I wheeze and have heavy breathing still from when I had fluid on my lungs. I think some of that is just regaining strength and endurance. Like other parts of your body, the lungs need excercise. If you have been less active or laying down too much, perhaps your lungs have just lost their oomph and need a little excercise.

May 6, 2010 at 12:16 am #3512rick-kampMemberI’m wondering for those of you who have lung mets if you have any symptoms from them? I’ve had a wheezing at the top of my chest/bottom of my throat for some time now that I’m a bit concerned about. My ONC said that my last CT scan showed a small airway was collapsed and it was caused by an infection. I asked specifically if it could be cancer causing it and he said no and prescribed antibiotics. The wheezing has been intermittent since then and is currently bothering me.
I suppose it could be allergy or sinus related since it is involving my throat, but I can’t help but to think about the possibility of lung mets since I know they are fairly common in CCA. My CA 19-9 has been steadily dropping with chemo and recently leveled off and became stable, but isn’t showing a spike. If anyone has some feedback to offer, I would appreciate it!
Rick
