Hello Lisa… You have no idea how happy Marc and I were to finally meet you in Seattle last September after our Alaskan Cruise. Marc had such an amazing time and meeting you was just the icing on cake for him. Your strength to fight this cancer gave him the will to fight it that much more!
Unfortunately I have more sad news to share even though we knew this was coming as well. I had to put down our 13 year old schnauzer this past Wednesday. We thought she was going to pass on her own this past April, but luckily she perked right back up. Plus, I do not think Marc would have been able to handle her passing very well if he was still with us. But now they are together once again. She had several health issues of her own and was suffering and I could not let her suffer any longer.
Thank you all again for your love and support!
August 11, 2011 at 8:46 pm #51954lisaSpectatorI just learned about Marc’s passing. I am so very sorry for your loss. I feel priviledged to have met you and Marc last September. What a wonderful couple you made. May God be with you as you navigate these uncharted waters with the love and support of your friends and family. As always, Jeff, you are in my prayers.

August 5, 2011 at 11:48 pm #51949kevinkyMemberFirst off, Jeff, I’m very sorry to hear about Marc. My wife Kristin died of complications related to CC last fall, and I’m still having a tough time, so I know the road ahead will not be easy for you. I feel for you, buddy.
It does help, though, to have oncologists who care. When Kristin’s learned that she was dying of sepsis and pneumonia rather than the cancer itself, he did not visit her at either the ICU or the hospice, nor did he attend the memorial service. No condolence message from his office. I guess since the cancer wasn’t involved, it was no longer his concern, so he just moved her file to the “inactive” drawer and moved on to his living patients. I found that remarkably callous and unfeeling.
Meanwhile, the best advice I received was from a Buddhist friend in the form of a poem by the nature-oriented poet Mary Oliver, and I’ll pass it along to you:
August 4, 2011 at 11:03 pm #51948jeffgriederMemberThank you all so much for your love and support. I had a lovely call from Marc’s Oncologist. She was on vacation when he passed away and did not find out until yesterday. We talked for about 25 minutes. After working with her for a year and a half we all became really close. Kinda funny, there were times she would secretly call me to check on Marc as she knew I would tell her what was going on when he wouldn’t. I am going to do my best to stay in touch with her.

I am glad he was another one to beat the odds and outlive his prognosis enabling you to spend more cherished time together. Our members are fighters and are so courageous. We will keep fighting and we will find a cure in memory of Marc and all our cc friends and families. May you find the strength to get through this most difficult time. Nancy

KathyJuly 30, 2011 at 2:45 pm #51942lainySpectatorJeff, I am so very sorry about Marc and I am sure he was so happy and thankful to have you at his side. You were very lucky to have that special love with Marc and I believe that in Heaven there is no time. There is only the moment. So I believe our loved one’s do not miss us as much as we them. The beauty is that one day, we will meet again and to them, no time will have passed. There is a reason why pain is meant to be part of our journey. It allows us greater depth of feeling which also allows greater heights of joy.
