July 9, 2009 at 10:42 pm #28820lainySpectatorHappy BOY Day! Great news about your mom! Oh, how we welcome all this good news!!!
July 9, 2009 at 10:28 pm #28819marionsModeratorAmy…….It is this one-tracked mind of mine not ever thinking that a CC patient may have symptoms other then those relating to this disease. You have great news all around. A little boy will soon give your little girl someone to hold, cuddle, and hug and your Mom is feeling great. How much better can it be? Your happiness is infectious. Thanks for bringing sunshine into our life.
Hugs
MarionJuly 9, 2009 at 9:41 pm #28818amyleaSpectatorHi everyone,
Just wanted to give you an update….. As you might remember a couple of weeks ago we were worried because Mom was having some of her original symptoms (dark urine, light stool, itching). The dr did lots of bloodwork and ct scan, and determined it was from a fall that she had where she got a black eye. They did put her on an antibiotic because she had been having some chillls and not feeling great, they figured that she had a small infection somewhere. She is now feeling so much better, all of those pesky symptoms are gone. Her stomach is feeling much better. I know that we always have to keep our fingers and toes crossed, but for right now things look pretty positive!
As for me, I am not 5 1/2 months pregnant and we found out last week we are having a boy. Maddy, our 5 year old daughter was VERY VERY excited! Life is pretty swell these days .
I check in daily and keep everyone here in my prayers!
Lots of love,
AmyMay 15, 2009 at 3:06 pm #28817amyleaSpectatorMarion,
I am feeling much better. I am now about 13 weeks. The morning sickness and just plain ugh feeling is slowly going away. I am due November 17th. It has really helped our family having something positive to look forward to.
I wonder how many things are on the market now that will have to be taken off of the market someday. How frightening!
Talk to you soon
AmyMay 15, 2009 at 1:10 am #28816marionsModeratorAmy….What good news you have. You must feel great about the decision of taking off from chemo and thereby allowing your Mom to enjoy the summer. In regards to radiation exposure, Thorotrast has been suspected to increase the risk of contracting CC and it was widely used in the 50th and 60th for x-rays and radiation. Of course, it has been taken off the market. I am glad to hear that your Mom is feeling as well as she is. How about you? When is the Baby due?
Sending lots of love your way,
MarionMay 14, 2009 at 10:23 pm #2307amyleaSpectatorHi everyone,
Mom went for her latest cat scan results this week and there has been no change, so no treatments for a while. She has another scan at the end of July. We will just take them a scan at a time, but at least she will have a fun summer!
I went to the dr this week and saw a poster about getting some gene testing. She sent me for the test and the lab called and said that insurance wouldn’t pay for it unless I had cancer, and the test would cost me $3000.00! So, needless to say I am not having the testing done. I think that is too bad. The lab did say that Mom could have the testing done and if hers came back showing a gene malfunction, then insurance may pay some of a test for me.
Mom talked to her oncologist the other day about the fact that we had seen that she had x-rays in the early 1950’s, and shortly after that they recalled something that they were using with the x-rays, and now there is thought that it could contribute to cc. The oncologist said that it was possible that could be the cause of her cancer.
I think of everyone here daily and send lots of prayers your way.
