    Dear Anne,

I am sorry to hear this news about your mum. I know how hard this stage is as I went through it with my dad as well. But I do believe that you have made the right choice as hospice will help keep your mum as comfortable as is possible. This is such a tough time right now and I know that you are doing everything you can for your mum. Please make the most of this time with your mum and know that we are all here for you as well.

    Hugs,

    Gavin

I am glad your mom is comfortable. It is so nice that you are able to have her at home. Like Lainy said keep making those memories and cherish each moment. Thinking of you through this difficult time and sending hugs to you and your mom. Nancy

I know you are doing the right thing for your mom.
This cancer is a very difficult one and I hope everything goes your way smoothly.

Thank you Lainy, we put the hospital bed in the guest bedroom where there is also a big TV. There is also a nice size couch positioned parallel to her bed so I can lay next to her. We have a walker and oxygen will be ordered also.

Anne, I am sorry you had to call Hospice but you absolutely did the right, kind and correct thing. This will lift a lot of the burden so that you can spend quality time with your Mom and she can be kept comfortable. I had Teddy’s bed in the living room where it was bright and airy and not ony comfortable for him but for visitors as well.
Of course that is also where the big TV was. Just want to mention that eventually I also had them bring a walker and oxygen as the oxygen helped him relax when needed. You are a wonderful daughter and this is now the time to keep making more Memories.

After much thought and consideration, I decided to call hospice on Wednesday. An admission nurse came by the house yesterday and talked to me for almost two hours to get the process started. They delivered a hospital bed and bed side commode the same night, I was very impressed with the speed.

They also delivered liquid pain and nausea meds last night, I’m waiting for the hospice nurse to come and give me instructions on how to administer those.

Mom is comfortable in her “new bed” and I hope she will stay that way for a period of time……..

Mom grew weaker rapidly in the last few weeks and any hope of further treatments became impossible. I believe calling hospice was the right decision.
