Let us know if the smoothies work. I know Randy enjoys them so much. That and his beloved – cottage cheese – we buy a lot of that. It is one of the foods that never leaves him sick. He has fruit with it sometimes. I also supplement with the pear juice that so many have recommended for the bowels. Good luck. Keep us updated. Blessings, Susan

Perhaps your Mom could have the Ensure or Fortijuice drinks, you can have them in milshake or juice form. My Dad has had these a few time after his stent procedures and he has them now. He said they have given him more energy too.
Smoothies and soups seem a good idea too.
Fingers crossed you find something she likes.
Best wishes
Andrea
November 30, 2010 at 1:29 pm #44784andreahSpectatorGavin, She is not vomiting. I really think she isn’t eating because she’s afraid of eating and getting sick. I`ve asked about the appetite enhancers but again she isn’t fond of that. She never took medication for anything before and seems like she is still not willing. I don’t know if she is just in denial or what but I feel helpless. She has lost 35 pounds altogether and I`m afraid at some point they will have to stop giving her chemo treatments…
Susan, I like the idea of smoothies so I`m going to buy one for her today and see how that goes!
Thanks to you both for your suggestions. I`m going to keep at it one meal at a time!

I also got chocolate protein drinks from Costco and Glucerna/Ensure. The doctor gave him nausea meds that lasted a week and some pills for break through nausea. He had very little nausea during chemo, but it has increased since he stopped chemo.

Does your mum not want to eat anything at all, or is she vomitting food back up that she has eaten? If she is vomitting, then there are meds that may be of help to your mum. But if she just does not want to eat at all then there are appetite enhancers that may be of use. And there are things like nutritional drinks and shakes that my also be of use, Ensure/Scandishake etc. Have you spoken with your mums doctors/oncologist about this? I hope that you can find something that will help your mum here.
My best wishes to you both,
Gavin
November 29, 2010 at 1:52 pm #4388andreahSpectatorMy mom is on her second round of chemo and now she doesn’t eat. She cried this morning because she lost 4 pounds since last Thursday. How do I find something to feed her? Is there anything someone could recomend that will give her the calories she needs and be gentle on her tummy?
