November 3, 2008 at 12:28 am #23964marionsModeratorHello michaelsurvivor…..glad that you have joined us and are spreading such great news while sharing and giving advise in re: to the Klatskin tumor. Hoping to hear more from you about your experience and your continued success with CC. I have heard about the lemon juice however, the olive oil detox had never been mentioned before. Thanks for sharing.
November 2, 2008 at 10:47 pm #23963michaelsurvivorSpectatorHi Don My name is Michael. I am an advanced stage Klatskin tumor survivor(surgery was a year ago). Like your mother, at first I also had biliary drains(2). I’m glad to hear that your mother is considered for surgery and hope you receive good news on Wednesday. I havn’t heard of Triphendiol, but I do know that extra-virgin olive oil(I take 1-2 Tablespoons twice a day) and lemon juice (I drink the juice of 1-3 lemons a day) are two natural liver detox foods that may help bring down the biliruben. I hope this helps. Hang in there and keep writing. MT

I understand how coming here for the first time one can get caught up in readsing. I did the same over a year and a half ago and there are so many more posts now. Anyway, welcome to your lovely site and dont worry about asking questions as someone here most likely knows the answer or has been through it/done it before.I hope your mother’s resection goes ahead and will be keeping her in my thoughts.

November 2, 2008 at 5:24 pm #23961marionsModeratorDon…Welcome and so glad for you to have found us. Many of us have experience with Klatskin tumor and I am hoping for others to answer some of your questions, also. The good news is that a resection is being contemplated once the biliruben has dropped to a more acceptable level. So, I am looking forward to hearing from you after Wednesday
November 2, 2008 at 7:09 am #1699donMemberI just found this site tonight and have been reading postings for last 6 hours! My mother, age 73 was diagnosed with Klatskin tumor about 4 weeks ago. She went to dr because she was jaundice and not feeling well. Her biliruben got up to 29.6 during first week at hospital. She had 3 billiary drains but biliruben very slow to come down but is slowly dropping each day. After 4 weeks, Billiruben level today is down but is still 9.6. Our doctor originally said mom was candidate for resection but surgery was postponed when biliruben did not come down soon enough. She got out of hospital 2 days ago. She has dr appointment on Wednesday and we hope biliruben will come down enough for surgery. I am worried that dr may cancel surgery entirely due to difficulty in lowering biliruben. Then what? Not sure what other treatment options would be available. Not sure about stage, size or prognosis. Has anybody heard of new compound recently tested at University of Alabama called Triphendiol NV-196? I have a lot of questions but will save some for later. Thanks, Don.
