Hello Kathyb and Lainy,
Thanks for your input. I did have 20 radiation treatments along with xeloda with no tumor shrinkage that is why I opted for chemoembolization instead of cyberknife right away. I hope Tuesday’s MRI at Hopkins shows more tumor death. I have my fingers crossed. Hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July. Regards, Johanna

July 1, 2011 at 2:39 am #51352lainySpectatorok, Girls, I just looked this up and here is what I found. See, in just 3 years there are positive changes.
There is no absolute size limit above or below which CyberKnife cannot be used. As tumors become extremely large, however, the benefit of the very focused way that CyberKnife delivers radiation to a distinct area begins to be lost.
July 1, 2011 at 2:29 am #51351lainySpectatorThat’s hoI read it Kathy. If so then perhaps they changed the parameters. Teddy’s was 3 years ago.
July 1, 2011 at 2:13 am #51350kathybMemberAm I reading it right that Mayo is willing to do cyberknife now?
July 1, 2011 at 1:45 am #51349lainySpectatorJohana, My husband hd Cyber Knife. The tumor must be under 7cm and no other CC involvement such as metasis. Teddy’s tumor was over 7mg so he had 25 treatments of radiation and it shrunk to 5.6cm which was perfect. C.K. is miraculous in as much as it only take like 3 treatments and you are done…no other damage. So, I would ask if you can have radiation on the tumor then Cyber Knife. I wonder also how you feel about another opinion from another ONC! DO NOT GIVE UP….there is always something to be done!

I know from experience that no shrinkage does not seem like very good news, but stable is EXCELLENT news.
Being a candidate for cyberknife seems pretty great to me, too. I don’t know much about as I evidently wasn’t a candidate for that either (I go to Mayo) but Lainy knows a lot about it and I’m sure she will post on this.
God bless.
Take careKathy
June 30, 2011 at 11:13 pm #5366jladamsMemberHello Everyone,
I am crying as I write this. Thank you to all who have written to me. I appreciate your support.
I came back from Mayo yesterday after seeing Dr. Queveda, medical oncologist. I had blood work and a CT scan.
The CT scan shows my mass measures 9.1 cm x 6.4 cm x 7.3m. Dr. Queveda told me I am not a candidate for resection or a transplant.
He believes my tumor is stable at the present.
I will go to Hopkins for my repeat MRI after chemembolization to see how much of my tumor is dead.
Dr. Queveda called Dr. Robert Miller at Mayo who stated that he would do cyberknife on my tumor.
I am so frustrated that this tumor has only shrunk a little bit.
I will make an appt. with my oncolgist after I get the MRI next Tuesday.
Anybody have any ideas? My oncologist here in DE does not want to give me anymore chemo. because she states “she wants to save my bone marrow”.
Thanks in advance for your comments/suggestions. Sincerely, Johanna -
