Thanks for your warm welcome. I read, smile, laugh and weep almost daily as I read the posts. It is definitely a much needed outlet at times. Thank you all for your warmth, caring and sharing of your lives as caregivers, survivors and “afflicted”. I find myself feeling like you are all family.

February 15, 2011 at 8:30 pm #47473andieSpectatorDear Cheryl,
I don’t know how I missed your post but may I welcome you to our cc family. Your daughter Jen has helped me through the last few months as we have both shared our Dads journeys together. Herb sounds a wonderful man who reminds me so much of my Dad too, with his detemination and attitude.
My best wishes to you and Herb.
Take care

February 7, 2011 at 1:37 am #47470nancy246SpectatorHi Cheryl, I have chatted through this site with your daughter Jen. We have a lot in common. I know Herb has a big birthday coming up. My husband Doug will be 60 May 3rd and we are looking forward to celebrating it in the sun. We have had a tremendous amount of snow here in Revelstoke and we are ready for Spring! I also have a son and 2 daughters. We were blessed with some wonderful news 2 weeks ago with our son’s engagement! I am so glad you are still finding many things to celebrate, too! Wishing all the best to you and your family. Nancy
February 6, 2011 at 2:33 am #47469mlepp0416SpectatorWelcome Cheryl and Herb! So glad you finally decided to post! You will find that the people on this board will fast become part of your ‘family’! My husband Tom also has an inoperable tumor and 15 months ago was told to go home and get his affairs in order. He was given 6 months and here we are at 15 months.
I’m so glad that we did not listen to that oncologist’s dire prognosis. Will Tom be here next year? I don’t know, but for now we live each day and treasure each day that we have, as I’m sure you and Herb and your children do!
Thank you for the wonderful post and tell Herb to KEEP KICKIN’ THAT cancer.
Go with God.
Margaret
February 6, 2011 at 1:46 am #47468lainySpectatorHello Cheryl and welcome to you. You have raised some wonderful children and that is very evident in their journey with their father. And a Hello to Herb, something tells me he also played a big part. We all know the down side of this CC but many times we don’t hear the upside, like how your family has pulled together. I am going to put in a personal request to Teddy that when the time comes he will be there to greet Herb. He always did work a room and loves to greet new people. It is so good to have you come take a peek and please don’t be a stranger now. I know you will keep us posted and Herb is another Miracle Man!

February 5, 2011 at 11:13 pm #47465nur1954SpectatorCheryl – What a beautiful message. You’re so right…our lives are wonderful as a result of those who have been a part of it. Thanks for posting – Nancy
February 5, 2011 at 11:06 pm #4726cldymondSpectatorI am new to post…but have been following this board since Herbs’ diagnosis on Jan 21, 2010. My daughters Jen S. and Herbsgirl have actively participated and I have been happy just following their posts. As you are all aware, Herb has inoperable, Stage 4 Klatskins tumor. He was sent home a year ago and told by the surgeon to get his affairs in order as he probably had only months to live. A year later, thanks to a wonderful Oncologist, he has been really holding his own! We have had many trials over the past year but we continue to celebrate many wonderful times together. Herb is such an inspiration to all. He has spent the last year trying to prepare his family and friends for the time when his journey will end. I am so proud of my children (2 daughters, 1 son) for how they have drawn close to their dad and me.They have shown Herb that when the end comes…they will be here for their mom and he need not worry. I feel compelled to post due to all the recent losses. Lainy .. I have followed Teddys’ story and feel sure that he and Herb will enjoy a wonderful meal together at some point, Hans .. the loss of Kris (and her bubbly, bright energy) is truly missed , Rick Kamp..you so remind me of Herb. His biggest frustration has been his lack of energy to “get things done”. For you I have a message …please realize that although “things”may not be complete, you have completed your family with your love! That is all thats truly important. Cheryl (Herbs wife)
