But then CC says, “frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn”! Good luck on the scan.

You must be so frustrated. How are you feeling? Have you ever tried Guar Gum to help with your diarrhea? My Dr for accupuncture started me on it and it has helped alot. I get it at the health food co-op and take 1 tsp in water a day. You need to mix it quick and drink it right away because it starts to gel. I am also on a supplement called GI Integrity. It has l-glutamine in it. It is supposed to help the lining of the intestines. There is also a powder that the nurse at the co-op told me about that has the same benefit. It is made of pea protein. Let me know if I can help in anyway. Hope you get your scan soon. Take care and God Bless,
JamieJuly 17, 2009 at 7:15 am #30271devoncatSpectatorNo PET scan yet. We were on the way to the hospital when we got a call saying the radioactive contrast wasnt delivered. I am waiting for another appointment but they only do it once a week and now there is a backlog so I dont know when I will get it. I am so nervous.

July 14, 2009 at 9:33 am #30268magicSpectatorKris,I am sorry about your poor nursing care.As an RN for the last 30 years I am sorry that you didnt feel properly cared for Janet
July 13, 2009 at 10:31 pm #30267jamie-dMemberHi Kris;
You are so right about nurses. Mind you I was an RN for years when I lived in California but haven’t practiced since we moved to the Midwest. I have been appalled at some of the things I have seen and experienced. You have every right to be upset and angry about the care you have, or should I say have not received. I would write a letter to the head of the hospital to let them know what went wrong. There is NO EXCUSE. Enough for my rant, good luck with the drive and PET scan tomorrow. Let us know how it goes.
God Bless,
JamieJuly 13, 2009 at 6:21 pm #30266lainySpectatorYou are NOT abnormal. Just drives one crazy that we all have to put up with so much then we get the Nurse Ratchett!!!! They have no business changing doctors orders. I give you permission, if you ever get her again to call her Ratchett!!! Good luck on the PET.
July 13, 2009 at 5:24 pm #2512devoncatSpectatorSo I went into the hospital this weekend for dehydration, low potassium and sodium caused by my number 1 enemy, diarrhea.
My normal ward is closed for the summer…Swedes take around 4 weeks vacation over the summer so there was not enough staff. I end up on a different ward with different nurses…bad nurses.
First, two out of 4 times they get my medication wrong….even though I correct them. It took one nurse 6 hours to figure it out. Then the doctor said I needed 2 liters of fluids with glucose, potassium and sodium…I only got one. When I pointed out the doctor said I needed 2, the nurse replied that I drank enough that day that I did not need anymore fluids. Of course today, my bloodwork was again BAD, severely low potassium and salts. Another doctor came in and ordered a bag and was very annpyed with the nurse for changing the orders. Well that was at 10:00. At 1:00 she stopped by again and asked where my fluids were and I had to tell her I had not received them yet. She went to talk to them again. At 2:30, still no fluids so I called the nurse and questioned and I FINALLY got my fluids 4 and a half hours after the docter ordered them. They had to put me on a fast drip because we need to drive 3 hours for a PET scan in the morning and I needed to get my levels up so I could be discharged. I had it with that ward.
My LOVELY surgeon stopped by my room and I told him how much I miss his ward and nurses and that they better be back before I need to be readmitted again. HE just laughed…and called me abnormal. Love the man.
Anyway, I needed to vent. Bad nurses really suck because they pretty much run the show.
