Thank you for the uplifting comments. I hope dad does well with his first round of chemo. We were also looking at the canubus oil, but Wi doesn’t allow this.. so so sad. I just wish they could find a cure for this awful disease!! Bless you all !! Laurie

Lauriels….welcome to our site. Your Dad made a choice and you are supporting him, all the way, that’s wonderful.
The majority of clinical studies require failing first line treatment, which is a treatment that worked best in clinical trials with patients for the same type and stage of cancer. Most likely it offers the greatest benefits and the fewest risks or side effects.

Although, we have seen some incredible results with Keytruda, it continues to be investigated in clinical trials.

Clinical trials are research studies from which a patient may benefit. Only Phase III studies compare an established treatment regimen to that of a new drug(s).

I may be wrong on this, but the only clinical research study including the elderly I know of is the ASCO TAPUR study. All others choose the healthiest patient population and age restrictions apply.

Try to stay hopeful, dear Laruiels, your Dad may have a great response to treatment and other options may then become available.

    Hugs

    Hello Lauriels,
Since this is a rare cancer and we need more clinical trials and research data is limited it’s understandable that some doctors say chemo does not work. One doctor told us the same and surgery is not an option. However, there were two other oncologists willing to try chemo, but we decided against it. It is a personal choice, and get a few opinions. There is a lot of information on Keytruda, so do a search on this site. It has been successful for some and hopefully we get more immunotherapy drugs for CC.
I also disagree that oncologists insist to start their chemo regimen first before being eligible for a clinical trial. I received the same response.

My sister is an expert on biological medicine and have doctors friend all over the world. They have recommended liquid Cesium+Cannabis oil. Anybody has information on this?

She also believes that Transfer Factor Plus helps a lot along Rio Vida by the same brand and the products from Cell Food.

We all appreciate any information on this.

Hi my name is Laurie and my dad has been dx with CC on 12/21/2016. My dad is 78 yo and as always been in excellent health that is until he started turning yellow. Dad was informed by 2 surgeons that surgery is not an option and chem would not work. Dad was informed to live the rest of his life as quality and enjoy everyday. However my dad wants chemo this will start on 3/15/17. This is dads choice and he doesn’t qualify for any study’s until he fails chemo first. We are wanting him on Keytruda, has anyone had much succes with this drug??

I am very angry that they can not do anything for him. He has had 2 second options. I love my dad and wish there was a drug that could give him a few more years.

    Thank You!!

mori….is your husband covered for the treatment at St. Lukes’s Houston? Or, is it a community hospital?
Regarding Cannabis, you may want to take a look at this link:

Additionally, entering “cannabis oil” in the search function, top bar, will reveal numerous postings on this subject.

Hello, Diana, and welcome to our special site. I am sorry to hear of your husband’s diagnosis, but would like to advise a second, professional opinion from a center treating a high volume of cholangiocarcinoma patients. What type of insurance do you have?

Hang in there, Diana, your husband does not have an expiration stamp on his foot.

    Hello everybody!
I am Diana, fron Honduras. My husband, Carlos, 60, has been diagnosed with CC recently at St. Lukes in Houston. We have great doubts and confussion, since he doesn’t have the symptoms, but they said it is too advanced for surgery. They said it has no cure and have less than 1 year to live.
My kids (15 and 10) and I are very sad and confused.
We are about to start the chemo they recommended.
I embrace you all and thank you for this opportunity to share in a place where all ferl and lice the same.
