November 19, 2010 at 12:01 am #44450katjaMemberHi tom
so sorry to hear of another dad of young children. You put me in mind of Rick.kamp, who was always full of hope and trying lots of options, although he hasn’t been around for a while. I think he had some abdominal ascites/metastases and quite a few chemo cocktails. You might trysearching his posts?
I can recommend andy’s supplement list, it’s so comprehensive and genuinely good for you.
Best wishes and so sorry you had to join us.November 18, 2010 at 11:39 pm #44449jemimaMemberHi Tom
Welcome to this fantastic site which doesn’t always have all the answers, but always has open arms.
I am sorry to hear about your situation. My mum was diagnosed in Feb 2010 with unresectable CC and is on gem/cis at the moment.
We looked into Cyberknife although didn’t pursue it for various reasons but we still haven’t ruled it out. Might this be an option for you ?
I have got my mum following the extra vitamins and supplements that Andy listed on the Alternative Treatments page (I think ?) and she is cetainly looking well on them.
Sorry I can’t help more but I send best wishes to you and your family. (I have one 3 year old and can’t imagine having three her age !)Jemima
November 18, 2010 at 10:53 pm #44448gavinModeratorHi Tom,
Welcome to the site. Sorry that you had to find us all but I am glad that you have joined us as you will get a load of support and help from us all. None of us are doctors here but we will all help if you can, so if you have any questions then please ask away and we will do what we can to help.
My dad was diagnosed back in summer of 2008 with inoperable CC, and radiation was also ruled out. His GI specialist recommened PDT which my dad had and we hoped that that could be followed up with chemo, but as things turned out my dad couldn’t do the chemo. I don’t know if PDT would be an option for you or not, but perhaps it is something that you could discuss with your doctors? Hopefully others will come along and offer their thoughts to you as well.
Please keep coming back here and let us know how you are doing.
My best wishes to you and all your family,
Gavin

I’m so sorry you had to find us but we are glad you did. If you scroll down on the “main ” screen you will find a bullentin board called alternative treatments. You can also enter that phrase in the the search box at the top of the page.
I’m sure others will chime in soon with added help.
Come often and ask anything you can think of.
I’m sending hugs and prayers to you and your young family!
Hugs,
PamNovember 18, 2010 at 10:02 pm #44444marionsModeratorHi Tom and welcome to our site. Triplets, how exciting. You are able to cuddle three times over although, you must be busy keeping with the daily demands.
Tom, we do have a section on Alternative Medicine you may want to peruse, but others most likely will come along and help you out. I assume that you are being treated at Princess Margaret and already have already explored the different types of treatments available. Has radiation been ruled out?
Best wishes,
MarionNovember 18, 2010 at 9:35 pm #4350tprestonMemberHello,
I`m Tom from Toronto, was diagnosed with advanced non-resectable intrahepatic CC in July, and have been on gemcitabine and cisplatin therapy. They were hoping to get it to a state that could be operated on. In the last 2 months I have had abdominal ascites fluid build-up, it now turns out this is from abdominal metastases that are growing. Treatment has now been changed to gem and xeloda.
Am wondering if there is any good information on other treatments including alternative therapies that may help. Even if just for discussion with my oncologist. I am wary of going to the US or UK for current trials as I don`t want to leave my family for an extended period (we have 3 yr old triplets) and for the costs involved.Thank you for your attention.
