To all of you,
You give me such hope. Listening to you answer to me has given me some renewed strength.
Being an athlete all of my life and still an active person at the gym and playing softball, I just know that there is good news coming somewhere. I will let you all know my news of the biopsy when I get those results. Until then, I love you all for your kindness and support.

I too will be praying that “God will intervene” and restore you to health. There doesn’t seem to be a “silver bullet” which goes to the heart of this awful disease and puts it to death. Everyone’s story is so different. But there are survivors and you could be one.Grace and Peace,
bobSeptember 25, 2010 at 1:31 pm #41971lainySpectatorMatt, welcome to oour wonderful family and Congratulations on already being a Survivor of CC! The only thing we know for sure about CC is that everyone is so different. We are not Doctors but have learned a lot from experience. And then again some of us practice ‘gut’ medicine, listening to our own bodies. Plese try our search engine at the top of the page and last but not least remember that you are always entitled to another doctor’s opinion. It sounds like you have had success and there is no reason to think you will not have more success. You have your age, your general good health and a successful surgery. We will be praying and sending special thoughts your way for Monday’s test. Please keep us posted.
September 25, 2010 at 12:52 pm #41970gavinModeratorHi Matt,
Welcome to the site. Sorry that you had to find us all but I am glad that you have joined us. I can’t help you with your chemo question as my dad never had it, but I am sure that others will be along soon to share their experiences of the various types of chemo. In the meantime and as Katie says, we have a seach engine here that will throw up lots of discusions on chemo and we also have a chemo part of this site.
I do hope that you will keep coming back here as you will get a ton of support and help from us all. And please ask any and all questions that you have and we will all help if we can.
As to Prof Lodge in Leeds, as far as I am aware yes he is still practicing and he is very well respected here in the UK. Here is a link that may be of use to you.

I do hope that everything goes well for you on Monday and I will keep my fingers crossed for some good news, and please let us know how you get on.
Best wishes,
Gavin

Welcome and so sorry this is happening to you. Can I ask what it was that prompted the doctors to start you on Gemzar three months ago? When you say ‘it’s’s back’ are you referring to the new spot? Really hoping that it’s nothing and like I said on my other post do ask about radiation. It’s probably the last thing you want to think about but there are cases where people have recurrences resected. I knew a man who had an extra ten years from diagnosis by having several different resections. Prof Lodge at Leeds kept ‘reconfiguring him’.
Good luck.September 25, 2010 at 10:45 am #41967mvbittnerSpectatorThank you Katie for your message.
I have made it through a very tough surgery, but I am very healthy and active and am back at the gym and am so full of life.
I am being treated at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington DC. My surgeon was able to resect a 16 cm tumor and left a 1 cm negative margin and I felt wonderful. We go back for this biospsy and pray that it is something on the scan that is nothing.
I am very hopeful that the next steps are successful ones for me. Please lift my name in prayer.

September 25, 2010 at 7:43 am #41966katieloumattMemberHi Matt,
May I be the first to welcome you to the board and hope you find as much support, friendship and advice that I have.
I am so sorry that you have had the need to find us but there really is nothing around on the net to beat the resources and wealth of advice, experience and help that people provide.
My Dad suffered from cc but sadly is no longer with us. He had resection surgery last June but unfortunately never made it.
Firstly you survived one of the most major surgeries a human body can be put through and that is a massive plus, alongside that you are young and strong.
Can I ask whereabout you are having your treatment?
There are people on this board undergoing chemo currently so they will be your best support. Also at the top of the page are tabs and a search engine that if you put in your query there is a wealth of info.
Wishing you all the best for Monday and come back and update us.
Katie
September 24, 2010 at 9:53 pm #4076mvbittnerSpectatorI was diagnosed on April 16, 2010 and had successful resection surgery of the liver (about 80%) of the liver. It is all back now and have been on Gemsar for the past 3 months. Just had my first CT scan and it seems something has shown up on the scan. It looks like a lima bean size spot, and we are having it biopsied on monday. They are going to change my chemo treatment starting on wednesday of next week to Oxaliplatin and Xelodin??
Can anyone tell me if this is a hopeful way of clearing these spots?? I am way too young for this to be happening. I turn 46 on October 5 and I am praying that God will intervene and get me and my family through this whole ordeal. I am a very healthy young man and my blood work is phenomenal. I hope someone out there can reassure me.
Thanks everyone, I am new to this site, but I just had to give it a try.
Matt
