Dear Sirena, this happens quite often and sometimes it can be an infection brewing and unfortunately you just never know until the tests are done. It’s not easy to be a CC patient or Caretaker. CC only picks on the best! On the other hand we call it our roller coaster ride with all the ups and downs. I like to say that we try to stay realistically optimistic! Please let us know how the tests go and in the meantime send a ton of prayers and good wishes.
August 5, 2015 at 11:55 am #84105sirenaMemberHi all,
It’s been a while since I’ve logged in. I just realised that it’s exactly a year ago that I registered here. I’ve had a bit of worrying news regarding my mom. Was hoping for an all clear, but while her scan results show nothing, her blood test result was different and the doctor says it could be recurrence or possibly nothing, depending on follow-up tests. Has anyone been in a similar situation or does anyone know anyone who’s been in a similar situation?
Many thanks,
SirenaOctober 14, 2014 at 6:16 pm #84104gavinModeratorThanks Marion and Sirena.
Hugs to you both,
Gavin
October 14, 2014 at 5:41 am #84103sirenaMemberThanks, Gavin! Thanks to everyone for the positive vibes. I’ve been so self-absorbed that I forgot we’re all here for similar reasons. I’d like to send positive thoughts to everyone as well. All the very best!

October 13, 2014 at 5:08 am #84099lainySpectatorSirena, wishing your Mom the very best, crossing everything I own and sending all good vibes and great juju! I know it works as when my husband had his Whipple 9 years ago several family members said they could feel all the prayers in the Hospital room. Be strong and let us know when the surgery is scheduled.
October 13, 2014 at 4:23 am #84098sirenaMemberThank you, Gavin and Marion. Doc says about 5 days after the operation is when we really need to be on the lookout. Please pray that all will go well for my mom to whichever god you believe in. We need as many good vibes that we can get sent our way!

October 12, 2014 at 8:06 pm #84097marionsModeratorSerena…..I much understand. Somewhat in a similar situation as my Mom is in Europe and I am in the US. I speak with her per phone or even Skype as much as possible, but lately she had to undergo several surgeries (non- cancer related) and I too felt bad for not being there in person. Fortunately though your Dad, and in my case, my sister, pass on info and love to our Moms.

MarionOctober 12, 2014 at 6:45 pm #84096gavinModeratorHi Sirena,
Thanks for the update and great to hear from you. And what great news you have to share about your mums surgery! That is great that she was able to have it and my fingers are crossed that it went well and that she makes a speedy recovery!
Yes there are risks with any surgery Sirena, but please stay positive. We are here for you as well and please keep us updated on how things go for your mum.
My best to you and your mum,
Gavin
October 12, 2014 at 5:59 am #84095sirenaMemberMarion, I can’t as I’m now in a different country. My family and I were scheduled to relocate less than a month before news of the cancer. Having to leave my mom was the most awful thing. My dad updates me on her condition but I miss her and wish I could be there for her.

October 12, 2014 at 5:27 am #84094marionsModeratorSirena….have you spoken with the surgeon and what was explained to you?
October 12, 2014 at 4:53 am #84093sirenaMemberThank you, Marion. I’m just worried because there are always risks involved. Still dunno whether the operation has completely removed the cancer, but I guess only time will tell…?

October 11, 2014 at 8:05 pm #84092marionsModeratorSirena….. First and foremost, congratulations on your Mom’s surgery. Doctors now make sure that the liver functions. In general (you would want to discuss this with the physician) unless there are underlying issues or the volume of liver left is inadequate (have not seen this happen) your Mom should be just fine.
Stay strong, dear Sirena, this is a big operation, but has been performed many times.
Hugs,
Marion -
