I hear what you say Sirena and this freaking out you talk of is very common. You are not alone in thinking like this, we have all been there and done that! The waiting game is a pain to say the least. Waiting for treatment, waiting for scans, waiting for results and waiting in general. Big grrrr to all of the waiting I say but unfortunately we all have to go through it, but at least we can go through it together.
You’re doing the right thing for your mum here and you are doing everything that you can for her as well. I know how proud she will be of you. If it helps, have a good old fashioned vent and shout and scream if you want to as well! I know that that helps sometimes and again, it’s something that we’ve all done too!
And while you are doing all this waiting, take a big hug too!

August 8, 2014 at 7:55 am #84075sirenaMemberDear Melinda & Gavin,
Thank you so much for your support. I hate this waiting game… I freak out wondering if the disease will spread during the time that is spent waiting. I know it’s pointless to worry unnecessarily as it doesn’t do any good, but I still can’t help it. I’m trying to stay strong for my mom, and I will. Thank you again for your care. It makes me feel that I’m not alone.

The jaundice takes time to build up before it starts to show up in someone and it also takes time for it to go once a person starts a treatment for it such as having a stent placed. I know that the waiting for something to happen is so very frustrating though, we’ve all been through that. Please stay strong though. I know you say that you feel helpless in all of this but your mum needs you to be strong though. And remember that we are here for you.
My best to you and your mum,
Gavin

I am so sorry you have to wait….waiting can be so hard. I know you feel helpless but just being there for your mom is doing a lot. You are a good daughter! Praying for you and your mother.
MelindaAugust 7, 2014 at 6:09 pm #84072sirenaMemberJaundice has still not subsided enough and we can only wait. I feel so helpless not being able to do anything else for my mom.

August 6, 2014 at 6:15 pm #84068sirenaMemberDear Lainy, Marion & Gavin,
Thank you very much for your care and support. My mom’s seeing the doctor tomorrow so there isn’t much I can do at the moment. Her itching has gone and I’m just praying her liver function has recovered enough for surgery to be scheduled ASAP. I’ve read a lot of useful stuff here already, and again I really appreciate your kind words. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

August 6, 2014 at 6:05 am #84067gavinModeratorHi Sirena,
Welcome to the site. Sorry that you had to find us here and I’m sorry to hear about your mum, but glad that you have joined as you are in the best place for support and help and you will get so much of each from all of us here. I know you will be scared, that is natural and I was too after my dad was diagnosed, everyone is. But I do know that you will feel better once you have more information about your mums condition and here you are around people who know what you are going through and how you feel right now.
My dad also had jaundice and once his stent started working he felt so much better. And it got rid of the itching that he had which was driving him crazy. Please keep coming back here, you are not alone in this. We are here with you and we care.
My best wishes to you and your mum,
Gavin
August 5, 2014 at 11:14 pm #84066marionsModeratorSirena…..internet searches can be difficult to read, understand and comprehend. You must remember that Cholangiocarcinoma patients presents with many similarities but at the same time there are significant differences inherent to each person as well. What these differences are and how your Mom responds to treatments and perhaps be a candidate for a curative resection then all of these things are yet to be discovered. As Lainy mentioned, a stent or stents will allow for the bile to drained from the liver which in turn reduces the bilirubin count which then result in reducing the yellowing of skin and eyes. If your Mom was plagued by itching which now has lessened than that is a good indication for things to be on the right track as well. Where is your Mom being treated?
For additional information on biliary cancers you may want to download this important booklet:

MarionAugust 5, 2014 at 7:34 pm #84065lainySpectatorSirena, when my Teddy had Jaundice in the beginning it took about 2 weeks for the major part to go down however, it like, stains the skin and can take a long time to be perfectly clear. But the eyes seems to go back to normal in that 2 weeks. Everyone is different so it could take a tad longer. What is their game plan?
August 5, 2014 at 7:09 pm #84064sirenaMemberHi Lainy, thank you for your reply. It’s been 2 weeks since my mom’s been given stents. Do you have any idea how long it will take for the jaundice to subside?

August 5, 2014 at 6:50 pm #84063lainySpectatorHello Sirena and welcome to the best place to be for CC. I am sorry to read about your Mom but you will gets lots of help here. First I suggest you go to our Search button at the top and just type in Klatskin and a ton of posts will appear. Try to read up as much as you can as knowledge is the most powerful tool we have for fighting CC. Also make sure that where Mom is being treated is well versed so to speak, in CC. I am wondering what they are doing for the Jaundice. Have they given her stents for the bile ducts? As far as I know the Jaundice is usually from clogged bile ducts and they need to be drained by stenting. I am sure you will be receiving more posts here as the day goes on. Sending you my best wishes.
August 5, 2014 at 6:34 pm #10397sirenaMemberHello, my name is Sirena and my mom was diagnosed with a Klatskin tumor 2 weeks ago. We’re currently waiting for her jaundice to subside before it can be determined whether or not she can have major hepatectomy. I’m scared and the research I’ve been doing online hasn’t helped at all. Anyone here in a similar position who can offer some reassurance? Thanks in advance.
Sirena
