Welcome to the site. So sorry that you had to find us all but I’m glad that you have joined in with us all here as I know for sure that you will get a ton of support and help here from everyone. I did when I came here after my dads diagnosis and I know you will too! Yep that feeling of being hit with a ton of bricks, I felt that too after we got my dads news. Felt like I had just been hit in the head with a bat.
It sounds like you have a great network of support behind you from family, friends and the professionals as well. And now you have all of us as well! We are all here for you and can relate to what you are going through. Please keep coming back here and let us know how everything goes for you. I hope all goes well for your chemo and my fingers are crossed for the best possible outcome.
My best wishes to you,
Gavin

MarionDecember 19, 2012 at 3:47 am #67675renaMemberWelcome Mary! It so good to hear that you have a good support team. My dad is the one with CC and just diagnosed this past September. It’s already been quite a roller coaster ride for him and he often talks about how he doesn’t think he could get through all of this without his support team around him. So with that, embrace your blessings and stay strong! You will find that this site is also a huge support!
December 19, 2012 at 12:59 am #67674pamelaSpectatorHi Mary,
I would like to welcome you to this site, but I am so very sorry about your diagnosis. I hope your chemo goes smoothly. My daughter has chemo tomorrow as well. We’ve lost count, but this is the 30 something one for her. I hope you come back and update us on your progress. Take care and God bless.

Welcome:-) I too am very new to this board and disease. Like you, my sister went to have a gallstone removed and came out with a diagnosis of CC. The support and positivity here is astonishing.
December 18, 2012 at 8:59 pm #67672lainySpectatorHello Mary and welcome to our extraordinary family but sorry you had to find us. Your description of a ton of bricks is exactly right, and now you need to pick up those bricks piece by piece and build. Good luck on starting your Chemo tomorrow. You are so fortunate to have so many kind and good people around you, that is a blessing. Please keep us updated on your progress as we truly care and be strong!
December 18, 2012 at 8:16 pm #7763gram517MemberHi, My name is Mary, from San Antonio, Tx and was recently diagnosed with this illness, intrahepatic type, and will have my first chemo session tomorrow.
I initially was sent to the hospital to have gallstones removed and 7 days later, left there with the gall bladder intact and an oncologist appointment.
Whew, what a load of bricks that hit that day….am better now with all the help of the occupational nurse at my employer, the case nurse at my insurance company and the staff at the local University Hospital system….not to mention friends and family members coming to my aide….. -
