HeatherJune 10, 2008 at 10:26 am #20365scragotsMemberMorning Kris,
We went on our BIG cruise the last two weeks of April. It was fantastic. We met the nicest people, and saw some beautiful countries. Our favorite place was Honfleur, France. It is a small, dockside town that looks like it did in the 15-1600’s. (Well, other than cars etc, of course) We also went to Plymouth England where we saw the Pilgrim steps, which is where the Mayflower left from, and Cobh/Cork Ireland. That’s the place we were most excited about, but it turned out to be the least exciting part of the trip. We were out in the middle of nowhere and did not book a tour, so we really missed seeing Ireland at it’s finest. Overall, we ate too much, slept too little and met a wonderful family from Canada that we spent a lot of time with. It was a great vacation, but you know what they say…it’s always best when you come back home. Thanks for asking!
As for the “hernia”, I called my surgeon to make sure I was doing the right thing, and she actually has me coming in to see her, instead of a GI I have never met. I mean, she IS a GI too, DUH. I don’t know where my head was. Well, yes I do. I didn’t want to bother her in fear that it was all in my head, made up in my wild imagination. But, she said that’s what it sounds like, so I am hanging on to that thought. Is it weird to hope for a hernia? Specially when it could be so much worse…??? Of course, she was going on vacation, so I can’t see her until June 20, but she did give a script for good meds, so that has helped. I just wish I could see her and get it all over with. My brain needs an answer.
I am so glad you are doing so well. I am fine other than the chest/rib pain. Knees have finally gotten back to about 90%, so that’s one less thing to worry about.
We are heading out to Williamsburg/Virginia Beach area this weekend for a 4 day vacation. It’ll be nice to miss a couple days at work. We are swamped.
Take care of yourself,
SueJune 9, 2008 at 11:32 pm #20364jeffgMemberHi Kris ..
I got my list of herbs and spice from the list under the (websites). The list is provided by Memorial ,Sloan-Kettering. A-Z list I don’t remember exactly which ones I got and mixed but they were off the Walmart spices and herbs section. I did’nt go to a health food store .
Bless You Guys!
JeffJune 9, 2008 at 9:34 pm #20363devoncatSpectatorThanks everyone. It is funny how much you appreciate life after something like this. Hans and I had a very nice dinner and a little bubbly tonight (and boy do I feel it, not really drinking in a long time REALLY makes your tolerance plummet!) and we were talking about how blessed we are. This cancer thing has really focused our lives and we have been “tested”…I know exactly how much I love Hans and how much he loves me. Everyday feels like a precious gift and I know that we would not have felt that way if not for cc and the reoccurance scare. We are so appreciative.
But enough about me…good luck Jeff on that new regimen and I am glad you seem to be tolerating it rather well.
Sue, best of luck at the doctors. Hopefully it is just a hernia or something even smaller. When are you taking that fantastic cruise you mentioned earlier?
Off to bed to let the bubbly go away!!!

June 9, 2008 at 10:01 am #20356scragotsMemberKris,
That’s the best news I have heard all day!!! I actually was thinking about you this morning when I was getting ready for work, wondering if you had had any recent scans. The mind is a scary thing, huh? I am thrilled to hear you are doing so well and know that it will continue into old, OLD age!!

June 9, 2008 at 6:08 am #1280devoncatSpectatorJust got my results from my last scan and everything looks good! It seems like a lifetime ago (instead of 6 months) that I was being shuffled around 3 different hospitals for all those investigative surgeries and external drains and the threat of reoccurance. It is now a year and a half since my surgery and I am loving life. Hopefully, I will be around long enough to drive my husband crazy and have those matching walkers we promised each other.
Keeping all of us in my thoughts and prayers.
Kris
