Since I am not posting in the good news section, we all know it wasnt such great news.
I have been on Xeloda, avastan and oxilaplatin for 6 rounds, and it wasnt very effective. The good news is that there are no new tumors and the one in my lymph node is not showing up. Bad news, the area in my liver which they were unsure about, is now definately classified as a tumor and now rules out surgery to remove my grapefruit sized tumor in my stomach. Both the tumor in my liver and stomach have grown and become more aggresive. I dont know what it means exactly, but the uptake of contrast for the PET increased from 4.1 to 5.2 so the doctor said that although it was a small increase, it meant the tumors were 25% more active.
The overall growth wasnt too large, but we are all concerened they did not shrink, but grew. I will be starting a different chemo combo hopefully next week,. They think it will be Gemzar and cisplatinin…and possibly Avastan or some other related drug. Radiation will also be discussed but it seems unlikely given the size of the big tumor and the placement of the tumor in my liver.
I am so devestated. Surgery was my was my hope for cure and it has been ripped out from under me. I cannot have surgery with a tumor in my liver and it doesnt seem like it wants to go away. I cried everywhere today and finally took some drugs to put me to sleep. What a crap day.
