    Mark:

I will second the others, sorry you had to find us, but certainly glad you did! Welcome to the best little family all fighting CC and rooting for you. Your story is somewhat similiar to my husband Tom’s. Although he was able to have his original tumor resected (taking out the entire left lobe and part of the right lobe of the liver). But in Nov 09 he presented with Jaundice and was found to have a 2.5 cm tumor in the remaining rt. biliary tree, inoperable because it involves the main hepatic artery.

We will all be rooting for you to beat this cancer! My husband Tom and I are trying to KICK this cancer as well. As you probably are already aware, this cancer presents many twists and turns and bumps in the road.

Have your doctors suggested or tried radiation? With Tom since the new tumor is inoperable, he underwent 28 rounds of radiation to shrink the tumor and has now had 2 weeks of chemo (Xleoda, pill form) and now has 1 week off, then he starts on the 2 weeks on again.

Go with God, prayers from Wisconsin are coming your way!

    KEEP KICKIN’ THAT cancer.

    Hi Mark,

Welcome to the family. Sorry you need to be here, but glad you have found us. I admire your strength and attitude. I checked out your blog and the information is a great addition to what the foundation is also trying to do. Getting the word out and educating people concerning this rare cancer. Hopefully you are right and you will beat the odds once again.

Take care and keep coming back.

Hello, Mark, and welcome to our wonderful Family. I just read your Blog and I like the way you spell everything out. No gibberish, just the real thing. I read where you had been in Arizona and we live in Phoenix. My husband is a 4 1/2 year survivor of a Whipple and we have been very fortunate to have top doctors here. Wishing you the best and of course sorry you had to join our community. But we have the most courageous, loving people from all over the World. And now we have added you another hero.

    Hi Mark,

Welcome to the site, although I am sorry that you have to be here. Like Marion says, no one wants to have to be here. I was my dads carer during his fight with CC, and I am so glad that i found this place and everyone here. Everyone here helped me so much and I know that they will do the same for you. Please keep coming back as you will get a ton of support from everyone here.

    My best wishes to you,

    Gavin

Mark…as has been said many times previously: welcome the site no one wants to belong to but, everyone is happy to have found. Actually, we have some fun here too. Certainly, we understand each other on a level most people can’t relate to and that in itself is something to celebrate. I agree with you in that knowledge empowers us to make informed decisions. Together, we can make a difference in the world of Cholangiocarcinoma.
    Best wishes coming your way,
    Marion

Hello – My name is Mark, I’m 48 y/o and was diagnosed with a peripheral intrahepatic cholangio in July of 2009. I had no clinical symptoms; my Alk Phos was elevated and this which prompted some additional labs and imaging studies. Confirmed by needle biopsy after CT & MRI showed a 6.5cm lesion. The tumor abuts a portion of the left branch of the portal vein, which would have to be preserved in a resection. Surgery would require complete resection of the right lobe and preservation of the left lobe, but since the tumor was pressing against the branch of the portal vein that fed the left lobe, it was deemed unresectable for the time being.

I have been on GEMOX (Gemcitabine [Gemzar
