lastborn…I too am in Northern California, but north of you. No reason to divulge your treatment center however; I would move forward with making contact with the UCSF hepatobiliary department. No reason to also not like your oncologist either, but for this cancer you must be evaluated by a center treating a volume of CCA patients.
Please keep us posted. We care.

One cannot take this CC serious enough as it is definitely a demon with a mind of it’s own. My husband had bile duct stents and they never hindered his MRIs. Mmmmmm. Best of luck.
August 19, 2014 at 3:35 am #84414last-bornSpectatorThank you for the welcome. For privacy issues, prefer to not list hospital. It is in the San Francisco Southbay area. Love my oncologist but am wondering if there is anything more that can be done. MRI inconclusive. It did not show tumor, just blocked common bile duc.t. I have a biliary tube and venous filter which make viewing the entire abdomen difficult. I have an appointment to meet with oncology dietician to see if I can get help with weight loss issue. UCSF and Stanford nearby.

MarionAugust 18, 2014 at 6:24 pm #84412lainySpectatorDear First Born, welcome to the best place to be for CC support. DEFINATELY go for that 2nd opinion. We have found that 2nd opinions are so valuable. Be sure to choose a hospital and ONC that are very familiar with CC as there are still many who don’t know what CC is or have not treated it. The CC problem is that it is hard to diagnose as there are no early signs that anything is wrong. I hope your MRI today makes things more clear but regardless I would go for that next opinion. Best of luck to you and please keep us posted as we truly care.
August 18, 2014 at 6:01 pm #10453last-bornSpectatorI just ran across this site and find it very interesting. I was found to have biliary obstruction 3/13. No evidence of tumor on CT. Ultrasound endo biopsy did not conclusively show cancer. High Igg, diagnosis possible autoimmune pancreatitis, treated with steroids-no response. Due to multiple complications, surgery postponed until 10/13. Ultrasound endo biopsy repeated-showed adenocarcinoma. CT repeat did not show tumor. Surgery revealed unresectable cc. Due to prior chemo and radiation for other cancers, only able to tolerate Gemcitabine. Since statistics are not very favorable with Gem alone, opted no to proceed. PET scan did not show tumor. Frustrated that it cannot be seen. Just had MRI-will get results today. Any suggestions of where to go from here. Considering second opinion. Liver studies okay except alkaline phosphate, however, continue to lose weight.
