Hi Ladies, I looked Nano up as I feel it is much like the Cyber knife that Teddy had and here is what it said: NanoKnife® provides a minimally invasive option for patients with inoperable or difficult-to-reach tumors, including tumors located near critical structures and major blood vessels in the body. Instead of using extreme heat or cold, which could damage normal adjacent tissues, the NanoKnife System uses electrical currents to destroy cancerous tumors.

Hi Gros2014
I really hope all is successful for your mum and sorry you had to come to this site, but as you did, it’s the best source of info to help you.
I too would be interested to know more details of the nanokinfe procedure, particularly regarding your words “involvement of a major vessel.” Which vessel was involved? I have lymph node involvement close to the aorta and have been told paliative chemo is all that can be offered … always looking for other options.

Thanks for your kind words lainy and Gavin.
Mum is feeling very well. Her first round of chemo was tough so they have reduced her second cycle to 75%. She had this yesterday so we are waiting to see how she goes.

So apart from chemo her only other problem is lack of appetite but this slowly seems to be returning.

Lisa I would be really interested to hear more about your experiences with nano knife. How long ago did you have the procedure?
How could doctors tell it was successful? Did your tumor shrink? Did you continue with chemo for very long?
We are finding that because it is not an approved treatment in the UK mums oncologist is very sceptical about how well it will work!

Welcome to the site. Sorry that you had to find us all here and I’m sorry to hear about your mum, but glad that you’ve joined us all here as you’re in the best place for support and help and you’ll get a ton of each from everyone here.

Thanks for sharing what your mum has been through and yes, your mum is the first person that I have heard of in the UK having nanoknife. That and similar treatments are far more common in the USA than they are here in the UK. I am from Scotland and there is no where to get that done up here. Glad to hear that the professor was happy that it went well and I will be keeping my fingers crossed for your mum.

Please let us know how things go with everything and know as well that we are all here for you. If we can help we will, all you have to do is ask and we’ll do our best for you. Hope that you keep coming back here, you are not alone in this.

Dear GROS2014, Welcome to the best place to be for CC support. Sorry to hear what is happening with your Mum and I hope the Nano Knife works well for her. Is the Nano like the Cyber Knife as my husband had the Cyber Knife and only had fatigue for a very short time. After the C.K. he had LABS and Scans every 3 months. Surgery IS the only cure but there are treatments today that can put patients in reach of surgery. Mum is already at a great Hospital and she has you! Hi,
My mum was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma in April this year. At first it was thought that she would simply be able to have the tumour removed but her surgeon (at the Royal London) discovered during the operation that he could not remove it due to the positioning of the tumour and the involvement of a major vessel.
To cut a long story short mum had 1 cycle of chemo (gem/cis) and then underwent the nanoknife treatment at The Princess Grace Hospital in London last Wednesday.
The professor was happy it had been successful but I guess only time can tell……
As far as I am aware my mum is only the second bile duct patient in the UK to undergo the nanoknife but I believe there may be more in other countries??

We are praying this treatment will give my mum a much better chance to beat this dreaded cancer and would love to hear from anyone else who has experiences of the nanoknife.
