I am so sorry that you have lost your Dad so quickly. Know that he will always be with you in your heart and memories. I know it is no consolation at this time, but know that you are not alone. Many here have lost loved ones quicky to this disease and truely understand what you are going through. My husband passed away only 7 weeks from the time he had any symptoms. Up to that time he was very healthy and active. His story is much the same as your Dad’s. Know that we are all here to help and support you. My deepest condolences to you and your family. My thoughts & prayers are with you.
Love & Hugs,
DarlaMay 8, 2010 at 5:50 am #36900merileeSpectatorMy thoughts and prayers go out to anyone impacted by this disease. I lost my father 5 weeks to the day of his diagnosis. Thank you for all your help and resources.

Case Western Reserve University is a Comprehensive Cancer Center designated by the National Cancer Institute. You can go to this link: http://cancercenters.cancer.gov/cancer_centers/cancer-centers-list.html#OH, for more information. You can search for clinical trials in your area at this link: http://www.cancer.gov/search/ResultsClinicalTrials.aspx?protocolsearchid=7042745, also from the National Cancer Institute.
I hope this information helps you find resources that can offer more hope for your father and your family.

Dad is still in the hospital, yes they ran a blood culture and confirmed a infection as well as Pneumonia, he has fluid between the lungs and diaphram they main drain tomorrow. He seems to be responding better to the antibiotic for his specific infection. We have an appointment for him at UH on Thursday, hoping he will be home from the hospital to go. May be a long shot.
Peace to everyone dealing with this!
April 2, 2010 at 12:28 am #36899marionsModeratorMerilee….Have the run a blood culture? Also, have they confirmed pneumonia?
April 1, 2010 at 11:21 pm #36898merileeSpectatorThank You again, for the kind replies, my dad is not doing so well, in addition they think he has a staph infection and pneumonia. He has a high fever and is very confused. Very hard to see. We want to move him, but not why he is so weak. Not sure all this goes with the territroy or if he is not getting the best care in the small rural hospital.
I dont understand why he keeps getting all the other complications.
Praying for my Dad as well as all of you good people and your families!
March 31, 2010 at 7:23 pm #36897lalupesSpectatorI hope your dad recovers from the infection quickly, Merilee. I don’t think you’re being self-centred at all – & even if you were, why shouldn’t you be, with all you’re having to cope with??
Best wishes are winging their to you from London … x
Julia

BetsyMarch 30, 2010 at 11:43 pm #36895merileeSpectatorThanks Betsey, I will, he is back in the hospital (last night) Pancreatitis. We are looking to move him to UH maybe, we are getting the best support and response from Ireland. For now we are trying to get over the infection, they say he will be there a week. I am so sad for him
