    Hi Zany63,

Welcome to the discussion board community.  It is wonderful news that you are able to have surgery.

I was trying to think of what my top pieces of advice would be given my own experience with a resection.  Here goes:

Before surgery – I spent much time in the days before in tasks that in my own way of thinking would allow guilt-free down time.  This involved cleaning closets, filing papers, advance-paying bills, etc.  None of this was actually necessary in retrospect but it gave me a peace of mind heading into surgery.  It also distracted me so I did not worry as much.

After surgery – as soon as you can and the nurses say it’s appropriate, get in some walking.  It is tough in the beginning, but walking helps in getting your internal plumbing moving again plus you will feel better.

There is a lot of good information for new patients on the Foundation website. If you use the discussion board search engine, you can find patient stories about experiences with liver resections.

Best wishes for good results and speedy recovery from surgery.

    Regards, Mary

I was diagnosed with ICC in mid-February 2018.  I am scheduled for surgery on March 22nd to have the left lobe removed.  I am looking for any suggestions on pre- and post-op.  I will be scheduled for 6 mos of chemo 8 weeks after surgery.
