Hi Pgaska,
Sorry to hear that you have not had much success so far in searching for surgeons yet, but please do not give up hope. I can’t really suggest any other surgeons in the US as I am in the UK. But hopefully some of the other members may chime in with some other suggestions. Have any of the surgeons spoken with you about the possibilty of attempting surgery if the chemo can shrink some of the your mums tumours? I know that feeling of frustration and I guess that that is something that most of us have experienced. But please do not give up hope and remember that we are all here for you. How is your mum handling the Gemzar?
Best wishes to you and your mum,
Gavin
August 17, 2011 at 6:07 pm #52147pgaskaSpectatorThx Gavin. My Mom is just getting Gemzar at a local hospital. I know this is not the best treatment option. She was supposed to get cisplatin too, but her kidney level is not good enough to get that too. It was 1.6 & needed 1.5 or lower. I am just fustrated because time is flying by which she doesn’t have. Trying to search for surgeons & other options…Dr. Kato said no for operating. Talked to Dr. Kennedy’s office & they said prob. not a candidate for radiation therapy cause she ascertion (sp) liver fluid in her abdomen. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions out there?!
August 14, 2011 at 10:11 am #52146gavinModeratorHi Pgaska,
I am sorry to hear this news. Has your mum thought about seeking a second or even a third opinion as to whether surgery would be possible? We have members here who they or their loved ones were told initially that surgery was not an option for them to then seek other opinions and then find that some were able to have surgery. Hopefully others will be along soon to offer their opinions on who they sought out to seek further opinions on surgery. Also, what other treatments has your mums doctors talked with you about now?
Best wishes to you and your mum,
Gavin

In addition to the link that Marion has given you, this one may be of use as well. It is a list of some of the major treatment centres in the USA.

MarionAugust 10, 2011 at 4:35 pm #5531pgaskaSpectatorHello. My Mom has been “officially” diagnosed with CC. She has 2 tumors that have matastized to her liver. I am currently seeking good surgeons for “inoperable” CC to contact. Please share your great physicians and stories of inoperable CC here. Thanks and God bless you all!
