Hi Andie,
I had to edit my post cause I just saw your newer msg. about your Dad. I’m so sorry for your Dad and his temp. and high bilirubin. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your Dad as you manage this hill in his treatment.
Best wishes,

July 8, 2010 at 3:57 pm #39413andieSpectatorThanks all.
Dad seems to be doing ok, haven’t seen him yet to talk to as when we went last night he was asleep so we didn’t wake him as he hadn’t had much sleep the night before. He text me this morning to say everything had gone well and doctors were pleased. They have capped the external drain off and as long as his bilirubin continues to fall he may be home tomorrow.
Just getting ready to go and visit him now.
Best wished

Just to say hope your Dad is now settled in his hospital bed. Wishing you luck with the un-blocking of the stent.

July 6, 2010 at 3:52 pm #39408andieSpectatorHi All,
Just getting ready to take Dad to hospital. He phoned this morning at 11 and they said at the moment we don’t have one phone back later. After what has been a very long day they have now have one and it’s at the hospital he wanted. I’ve never known my dad so happy to be going to hospital.
My son (age 9) has been so good, I was supposed to go and look at his school work tonight but only my husband is going to go now. He said “Mom don’t worry, Grandad is much more important, I will keep up the good work so you can see it next time” He had a lovely school report and I’m so proud of him. I know how important these things are to kids and it’s the first one I’ve missed.
Fingers crossed the unblocking of the stent goes ok tomorrow.
Best wishes
July 6, 2010 at 1:18 pm #39407lalupesSpectatorOh, Andie – I’m so shocked at the delay for the stent unblocking. I really hope they’ve got their acts together & sorted it out now.
I’m thinking of you!!!

July 2, 2010 at 3:33 am #39406linda-zSpectatorHi Andie,
I have heard if your Dad got to have his stent done yet or not, so I’m praying that it will be soon.
That would be something wouldn’t it, if you showed up at the hospital with your own bed or cot? Here’s hoping they found one for him by now.
All my best,
Linda Z.
July 1, 2010 at 6:17 pm #39405andieSpectatorThanks for that info Kris, I will tell Dad to keep drinking, but to be fair to him he’s good and does drink alot as the doctors advised him too when he was diagnosed.
Best wishes

I dont have a stent, it was the tumor blocking the flow. I rarely had dark urine since I drank so much. It got darker when I was admitted to the hospital and had less control over how much I drank. The itching got worse too.Kris

July 1, 2010 at 5:12 pm #39402andieSpectatorHi Kris,
My Dad is drinking lots at least 3litres a day, do you think this is helping his urine to stay normal?. As you say apart from looking yellow he feels fine.
If you don’t mind me asking when your stent was blocked was it due to tumour growth or just a build up of bile sludge etc?
July 1, 2010 at 4:12 pm #39401devoncatSpectatorGreat news Andie. When I was blocked and yellow, the more water I drank, the better I felt. I think all the water helped flush the bilirub out. Something you might want to consider.

July 1, 2010 at 3:25 pm #39400andieSpectatorThank you Jemima, no itching yet and no change in his urine but he seems to have gone yellow overnight so perhaps that may change too. If it does he’s agreed to go to A&E.
Lainy, you do make me laugh but thanks for crossing everything including your eyes!!
I have everything crossed too, including my toe that I broke yesterday!!
Best wishes to you all
