Need to start a recipe thread!!!
January 7, 2015 at 11:03 pm #86106lainySpectatorHa, ha……perhaps homemade chicken soup would work. I am not big on casseroles but how about my homemade Spaghetti sauce???

As long as the rest of the noodles are in the form of a casserole accompanied by chicken soup, my door is always open to you.

January 7, 2015 at 6:55 pm #86104gavinModeratorUncle Duke,
Sorry to hear about the numbers and you not being able to do the chemo, major GRRRRRRR to that and hope next week’s numbers are better and that chemo is a go! If anything gets these numbers up it will be the thought of Lainy turning up with her noodles to whip them into shape! I hear what you say about having to live like a hermit sometimes in order to protect yourself from stuff. My mum has to deal with that lots and avoid people with colds and stuff as an infection can mean 3 weeks in thge hospital again for her if she gets a bad one.
Loads of positive vibes coming your way!
Gavin
January 7, 2015 at 4:50 pm #86103lainySpectatorDear Cousin Duke, those numbers better get better or they will get the rath of Cousin Lainy. I will show up at your door and you will receive 100 lashes with a wet noodle. I am also sending positivity all to you!
January 7, 2015 at 7:18 am #86102iowagirlMemberDuke…..Before this post started…I had the most amazing private email written to you…and was just finishing the last sentences (and you KNOW that it was a long email….I don’t write short ANYthing). I had been thinking about you the past few days…wondering how things were going with the new chemo……and if your platelets had improved. Dang…..your post was not the answer I wanted and prayed for….but, it is what it is. Dig in your heels and fight with dignity, which is what I know you’ll do. Oh…..and if I may….I’ll mother you a little along with KrisV, though I may have to break out MY magic wand. (I secretly kept mine). Hoping and praying for good blood counts next time so you can continue the new chemo soon and get that next CT scan. Hang in there friend……Julie T.

January 7, 2015 at 2:42 am #86099okansasSpectatorDuke, I’m Saying prayers for better numbers next week. Your cheerleading team is much larger than you imagine — you have many many of us on this forum who quietly care about you and the others fighting cc.
MargaretJanuary 7, 2015 at 2:33 am #86098dukenukemMemberIt’s tough having to be so careful, almost hermit-like. But I understand about not being around sick people or getting chilled or cutting myself, even something as simple as opening a can of cat food or a letter cut. Doesn’t have to be as obvious as a knife.
Thanks for caring. It’s important to me.

MarionJanuary 6, 2015 at 9:27 pm #86096kvollandSpectatorBummer Duke. Now if I just had that magic wand to make it all better……they broke it when I graduated nursing school.
Also with WBC’s/platelets that low take care to not get sick right now or cut yourself…..I could give lots of motherly/nursey advice but I think you can handle it
Hang in there and fingers crossed for treatment next week.
KrisV
January 6, 2015 at 9:19 pm #10832dukenukemMemberPlatelets were only 31,000 and WBC <4 - lowest numbers I've ever had.
Try again next week.
