Does anyone have experience with docetaxel as a treatment? Results of Search yield reports but I could not find any personnel experience.

There are lots of reports and experiences on irinotecan, not all of them happy ones.

Why is it that some oncs are more successful/aggressive/understanding of getting approval for off-label use. Is it simply they are more comfortable with what they know or are not willing to take risks?

Plan on it. No dates in mind yet. Recommendations on best time (low tourist number and moderate temperature) to see the Canyon? We will probably be tent camping at a state or national park somewhere.

Cuz, I am only a couple of hours from the Grand Canyon. We could meet in Sedona!

Platelets and WBD/ANC were good enough to get a partial treatment today (still no 5FU push during treatment in the chair).

CT scan coming up next Monday to determine whether to continue FOLFOX6 with my current onc or start docetaxel at the Cleveland Clinic with Dr. Sohal.

Got into a discussion with the onc’s nurse about “bucket lists”. She said I had to have one. I said bucket lists are what you want to do before you die. She insisted that death had nothing to do with it. My bucket list is simple – wake up tomorrow morning. After that it gets a little fuzzy. Going to the Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns, and the Sequoia National Forest are up there. Plus, going to Great Britain. Sorry, Nephew Gavin – you will not get me on that trail on a tandem bike. Ain’t gonna happen. Plus, going to our favorite campground in August – Piseco Lake, NY. Plus anything spontaneous that comes to mind. On one hand she insisted that I need to get organized and make a list, then she argued that I was too organized to be spontaneous. Go figure.

Anyway, the only constant is that things continue to change.

Steroids are kicking in – looks like another late night.

    Peace

Late note: Sometimes I think these people could screw up a one car parade. I didn’t feel right about the Monday CT – it was too early. I was told – “If you don’t like it, there is the number to reschedule.” So I got through to the onc’s nurse – she agreed – had no idea why it was scheduled then. Called to reschedule – found out the Dr. had not prescribe the oral barium before the scan. So I went from Monday at 09:00 to Friday at 10:00 for the scan but show up two hours early to start the barium oral. And I was originally told no liquids within three hours of the scan – wrong – they want me to hydrate as much as possible.

Folks – you’ve got to look after yourselves. Do not put medical people on a pedestal – when they fall off, things shatter.

Ouch Momma! See, I was right about dentists inflicting pain!!! Hope they didn’t charge you at least for this treatment!

What a great weekend to be in Phoenix, guess it will be very very busy to say the least!

Thanks, Kris but I got my RX today. They told me that the DR. girl called it in today but the RX says the 27th!!!!!! Which she told me it would be. So now I know it is the CVS.
Have a Hot dog for me. Enjoy the game.
So, I had a tooth pulled Tuesday, a lower molar (didn’t mean to rhyme there). Today went back so he could prep my mouth for a bridge. Well, now I know how to shut me up!!! He was smoothing out some old fillings and the drill slipped off a tooth and caught me under my tongue. Like Julie would say, GAH!!!!!!!!!! He really felt bad but not as bad as I felt. All I have to say is….”Dear G-d, I know I am considered chosen but please stop choosing me all the time”. This too shall improve.

Depending on what strips you use, I could send you some. Mark has them on auto-refill and I pick them up once a month with my meds without fail and put them in the drawer with the rest of them…..the ones he is supposed to use and doesn’t. I will have to stop it or the drawer will be too full. And I would change pharmacies too. I get frustrated with my pharmacy too but nothing like either one of you are dealing with. Although we are sharing a med this week…..we both take the same medication for blood pressure but he takes 100 mg and I take 50 mg…..the pharmacy could only get enough 50’s to fill his prescription so he gets two and I get one. I don’t understand how certain medications aren’t available. And it’s a common medication too.

And I will have a Super Bowl hot dog or two for you Lainy. We are having a little party with just a couple of friends and Aly and her husband. Keeping it low key this year.

Gav, no super bowl for me and staying away from anywhere near the stadium. The stadium is about 1/2 hour from me. Anyway, on Sunday only liquids for me. BTW for anyone having to do that Prep, I get tired of Chicken broth but Campbell’s Beef Broth is really very good!

Agree Momma! Life is stressful enough without us being lied to about things! Chemist now has new staff here, told me it can take up to a week to get a prescription filled now if they pick up from the docs, wrong! Have only been doing this now for coming up on a decade and know that it takes 3 days max to get repeats done. Sigh…

Hope the colonoscopy goes well, let me know how you get on. Superbowl Sunday, will be staying up for that one as is shown on the normal channels here! :)

Gav, my RX is finally ready. Only took 4 days and many phone calls to the GP and to CVS. I don’t like being lied to. Say something I may not like but don’t lie. At least I have it now and from now on this late in my life learned I should call a week ahead. Bottom line they are all messing with someone’s health. Oh well, easy breezy weekend, storms tomorrow (love it) and Monday early another Colonoscopy! Poor Michael Jackson but I do love that Propoful! lol

Hope your teeth are feeling better today Momma! Hear what you say on the pharmacy front. The chemist I go to for my mum lost one of her prescriptions this week. Claimed they hadn’t got in the first place, wrong answer!! Went straight to the docs who told me the dat it was written and collected by the chemists. Doc went berserk at the chemists to say the least as mum had to do without her early morning meds for a few hours until they got an emergency one filled. GRRRRR again!

Son, so true. I got laughing gas and it didn’t do a thing. I laughed and talked through the whole procedure. He still had to give me 3 shots of Novocain. He also RX me Tylenol with Codeine but I am trying not to take it today as I am still looped. Right now more of an ache then a bad pain.
What was cool though is he had that Pandora Music station on and in the first 20 minutes or so 3 of T and my songs came on. I said “T I know you are here and thank you”. After that I was there almost 2 hours and no more of our songs. Guess he saw I was ok and had other things to do.
Right now I am so angry and I don’t get this angry too often. What to do! I have tried for 3 days now to get a new request for my Blood strips for testing. The Pharmacy claims they are not hearing from the Dr. office and the Dr. office is saying they have not heard from the Pharmacy. I am sure I am switching Pharmacy’s but how dare they all play with peoples lives, so to speak.
Guess I better take another Codeine and just go to sleep. Maybe a miracle will happen and I can pick the strips up later. Sorry, everyone….this is me ….frustrated.

Cuz, well, one of the best in every category, “Fiddler on the Roof”. AND….Phantom and one of my all time favorites ever….Les Miserable.

On codeine right now for the tooth pull tonight. DARN, I should have taken the tooth to put under my pillow. Perhaps T would have given me a raise on this one!
BTW…..the DDS had Pandora on the radio thing and in 15 minutes 3 songs of T and mine came through. I should have given him the bill too!

    Easy peasy:

Category: Male and female singers in Broadway musicals. (Maybe add musicals that have become movies?)

Criteria: Voice only? Voice and acting ability? (Not all good vocalists can act worth a hoot.) Over entire career or only one particular musical? Longevity – many musicals or a one-hit wonder?

Of course, we are the only ones who seem to be playing in this sandbox.

    After ‘while, crocodile.
