February 15, 2011 at 12:54 pm #47987nur1954SpectatorSorry to hear about your Mom doing so poorly. The high ammonia levels will definitely cause a lot of confusion. Of course, you all need time to come to terms with things your own way. Sending you strength and best wishes – Nancy

Also that I have not posted as much, but beleive me when I tell you that since Mom was diagnosed it has been a comfort, a resource and an inspiration when I needed it. I am so gratful to have found it and wish only the best for everyone who is battling this monster.
We brought Mom into the ER this weekend, she was very confused. It turns out her liver enzymes were sky high, and her ammonia levels were off the charts. She had an infection, in addition to kidney failure and apparently the scyosis of the liver as well. She was put into ICU on Sunday night and hooked up to a ventilator. We have not seen any significant change in her since that point. She has some internal bleeding as well, and the kidneys have all but completely shut down now. The recomendation is that we take her off the ventilator. We are just trying to give us all a little time to be able to come to terms with that.
I am so sorry that we have all had to meet this way, but I am also gratful and in awe of those of you fighting this cancer so bravely and the caregivers who do all that we can for our loved ones! I pray that the good news board stays full and active and that we all can find our own peace, which ever way that might lead us.
May God bless and keep all of you and your families!
