Thank you Roxy. I just had another MRI and everything is once again stable.
In the fall of 09 I had radiation and 5-FU chemo. My husband and I really believe the radiation zapped the tumor good, although there has never been any shrinkage.
Last May/June I started gem/cis and stopped chemo the end of Oct. It was a hard decision to start chemo as I was feeling so good, but I did it in hopes of delaying more tumors.
I never cut back on sugar, but I do eat 4 stalks of Green Giant asparagus every morning and every night. I call this my probably false internet cure. It was one of those things that come around in email that is suppose to “cure” you. Like a few people, I’ve gained weight during my last chemo – probably from the steroids.
Why have I been so lucky/blessed? I honestly do not know. Some people tell me I have a great attitude. My husband will confirm that my attitude is great except when I don’t feel good (which was two months straight during radiation and chemo in the fall of 09). Having always been healthy I don’t do sick well; but I feel I am now better at it as I now know you can be terribly sick for a time, but it’s possible to feel great again and enjoy life.
I also have a very supportive family and a strong faith in God. I pray daily, not for my own healing, but for myself to be a better Christian as I am often a bad example, and for all of my family to grow to be strong Christians. I believe God will take me to heaven when my time has come.
I’m sorry your family has to deal with this. Cancer sucks!

October 31, 2010 at 6:18 pm #42433andySpectatorHi Kathy,
That 1 day is now 1 month, right? Keep on and it will soon be adding up. I’m now 7 months over my sell-by date, and no sign of tumours anywhere. So all things are possible.
Keep going!
AndyOctober 25, 2010 at 1:01 am #42432mlepp0416SpectatorHi Kathy: The best thing to remember is that no one has an expiration date stamped on their butt! My husband Tom was given 6 months, just about 12 months ago! The oncologist that he was seeing gave us no hope, and said that radiation and chemo would not help. Thank heavens that we did not listen to him, else I’m certain that Tom would not be here today.
He did receive radiation and chemo and now does have 5 new tumors and a met to the pelvic area, but his new oncologist is very optomistic that she can still help with IV Chemo – he just had his 2nd round on Friday and his bilirubin and Tumor markers are coming down which is awesome.
As he starts his 12th month of life, we too are looking forward to another Thanksgiving and Christmas together. Never take ‘no’ for an answer, instead ask “What else can we try?”
I learned this early on in Tom’s journey with CC. It is a roller coaster ride for certain, don’t let anyone fool you on that! However, with that being said, enjoy each day to it’s fullest. Make those memories for your family and loved one. Take those ‘good’ days and do something special, and on the ‘bad’ days, sleep, read, watch TV or just lay on the couch with a snuggly blanket and enjoy being pampered, if possible.
I will add you to my prayer list.
Go with God and KEEP KICKIN’ THAT cancer.
Margaret

no one is time stamped with an expiration date. I hate when doctors do that.
Remember how special you are, keep me posted on how you are doing?

Isn’t it wonderful that doctor’s don’t know everything. I wish they did know more about what we have and how to treat it. I was told 6 months, but I kept looking until I found a doctor that said he couldn’t give me a time period for everyone is different Needless to say the doctors that took away HOPE, I have not seen, again.
Kathy, like you, I am looking forward to another Thanksgiving and Christmas that I did not think at one time was in my future. With God’s blessings, you will have your two year goal and beyond. We both know that we are in His Hands.
Wishing you many more good days than bad ones.

Great work, you go Girl! Just the news we love to hear.September 30, 2010 at 8:45 am #4104kathybMemberSummer 09 my personal prognosis was 3-14 months max. It’s now been 14 months and 1 day! Although I’m presently doing chemo which gives me a down day here and there, I feel good most days and I’m really enjoying life. Looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Guess I need to make another goal. I think the next one will be 2 years out and I do believe I’ll make that, unless God takes me on to heaven. He’s in control of this ride.
