CatherineJune 6, 2014 at 11:23 pm #82762marionsModeratorForgot to mention, dear Kris, that in the background we are working to establish a dropdown list for the nursing portal. A significant portion will be completed by nursing staff from medical institutions. I want to make sure that information coming from the patients and caregivers posted on our discussion board re: side effect treatments and other information not listed in the nursing manual, will be given equal attention. And, in many instances, some of the tips and hints discussed on our board are so unique to our patient population that it is not noted with the medical staff. Your contributions are invaluable. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.

Enjoy your special time.

Enjoy your anniversary.

Happy anniversary! One year is great news and here’s to the coming years! Yes it has been a rollercoaster for you both and I know that it has been hard. Looking forward to hearing how the next years go and hopefully they will be easier for you both! Go Mark!

DarlaJune 6, 2014 at 2:45 am #82757iowagirlMemberKris, Your post tonight made me so happy to read. One year…..and a year it sounds like it’s been. I’ve only been around for a short part of it, but believe me when I say, you have given back far more to others than you’ve taken from the group here. I expect next year at this time to be celebrating Mark’s second anniversary of being cancer free. Celebrate today…and every day……I raise my glass (of water) to you both.

June 6, 2014 at 1:38 am #82756lainySpectatorDear Kris and Mark, an extremely HAPPY Anniversary, one year is nothing to sneeze about. Try to think more about the good things that happened this last year like not too long ago a beautiful wedding! I have no doubt Mark will continue to progress as he has one of the best Care Takers in the World. HUG to you both….{}{}{}{}
June 6, 2014 at 1:31 am #10110kvollandSpectatorWell, it’s been a year since resection surgery so I am going to call today One Year Cancer Free. Mark’s surgery was actually June 4th but I consider the 5th to be the cancer free date. I posted a pic on FB of him a year ago in ICU the day after his surgery. He was still so yellow and swollen from the fluids and ascites.
It has been a roller coaster year of hospitalizations, chemo, radiation and more chemo. He lost 80# total in the last year, has new scars that map his belly and his beard/mustache are almost completely gray (what’s left anyway).
I have found amazing support from people I would have never expected and even more from people that I didn’t even know. I know for sure that I could not have made it through this last year without all of the support that I have gotten from everyone on this site. Thank you one and all for your positive thoughts and comments. I know that it helped.Love and Hugs to all,
KrisV -
