Tom….Ben is doing well. Congratulations on the shrinkage. I am sorry to hear of the bothersome neuropathy. It has been discussed numerously on this site. Some had resorted to wearing gloves when anticipating coming in contact with either, hot or cold surfaces.
Knowing how conscientious you are I expect that this problem has been discussed with the physician, as it is a side effect of the medication and needs to be watched closely.
BTW…..The ASTRO conference will be coming up in October, in Miami. What do you think? Is there a possibility for you to join me?
Best wishes,

Sorry I don’t know anything about the detroit area – but am wishing you the best of luck on your Gem/Cis regimen. My Ben has now been through 5 rounds – and had an MRI after 4 rounds which showed shrinkage of his primary tumor of over 20%. He’s had little to no side effects – just some hair loss and some fatigue, so he’s been lucky. You can look for my posts in the chemotherapy section…I have been trying to post updates there to share with others. You will find many other posts them from others and their experience.

February 8, 2011 at 9:43 pm #47528lainySpectatorDear MJSHAH, welcome to our wonderful family. I am not familiar with Hospitals/Clinics in Detroit but perhaps the sites that Gavin posted will be of help. Could you tell us a little more about your diagnosis, we are a curious bunch and we try to be of as much help as we can. Please feel free to come here to ask, vent or advise. We look forward to hearing more from you.
February 8, 2011 at 8:51 pm #47527gavinModeratorHi MJ,
Welcome to the site. Sorry that you had to find us all but I am glad that you have joined us here as you will get a load of support from everyone. I can’t help you specifically with options from the Detroit area as I am from Scotland, but I am sure that others will be along soon that can help by sharing their knowledge of the area. In the meantime, here are some links that may be of use to you.
Here is a list of major treatment centres in the USA –

And the great members here have also created this thread in which they share their experiences and knowledge of physicians and treatment centres that they know of.

I do hope that some of that is useful. We also have a great search forum function here at the top of the page that may be of use to you as well. Type in Detroit and see if that throws up any discussions.
I do hope that you keep coming back here and please feel free to ask any questions that you have and we will all do what we can to help.
My best wishes to you,
Gavin
