Hi Hesw,
I am happy to hear that you’re planning to participate in a clinical trial, and I hope you will respond well to treatment! As Mary mentioned, never hesitate to ask your doctors any questions you might have. I am not sure what kind of drugs or treatments you will be receiving in your trial, but consider asking things like: if you are taking a drug or combination regimen, ask whether these drugs are already used for patients with other kinds of illnesses and what kinds of symptoms or side effects they tend to experience; if it is a novel drug (never used before in humans), ask about what kinds of side effects they expect they might see or if the drug has already gone through earlier trial phases, what other patients on the trial have experienced; ask the doctors what their plan is for managing any adverse effects from treatment; make sure your doctors are aware of your concerns about maintaining your other organs’ health so they can directly respond to them; if the trial relates to surgery or radiation or some other non-drug treatment, again ask your doctors to explain what kinds of risks are involved and how they plan to minimize those risks.
You can also help support your body in other ways as you go through the treatment, by exercising to the extent that you feel comfortable (regular walking is a great option if you’re able), aiming at a varied diet rich in green vegetables, fruits and nuts, and keeping your mind busy with non-treatment-related things–books or audio books, films and lectures, work-related stuff if you’re employed, voluntary activities to the extent that it feels safe for your health, family and friends, etc. All this stuff plays an important supportive role!

Thanks so much for a quick response and it is great to hear that my general health situation will be monitored perhaps even more when I’m under trials.
Feeling nervy and apprehensive about treatment and the illness is normal but I ask these questions because although we are very unfortunate to have this disease , I like to keep my nerves under control so I can enjoy my life as much as I can,Thanks so much again.
THIS SITE IS AMAZING ! Great to know you all.

Thank you for sending a question. I think everyone feels apprehensive about starting a new treatment. I know I feel that way. One benefit of being treated through a clinical trial is your health status will be closely monitored. You will have a lot of opportunity to ask questions, and the doctors will be on the lookout for anything that seems amiss.
Please stay in touch and let us know about your experience with the trial.
Take care, regards, Mary
May 23, 2021 at 2:58 am #101089HeswSpectatorHello guys,
I hope you are all having a reasonably comfortable day so far.
I know some of you have been through hell , so please forgive this question. I was only diagnosed 7 months ago.
I have intrahepatic stage 4 . And I’m fortunate that when I started treatment 7 months ago I had no damage to other organs eg. heart; kidneys etc;. And as yet after 2 and a bit chemo treatments the MRI also indicated no damage which is also a relief,
I am about to start trials and I’m a bit worried about unknown drugs damaging my other organs. I do know that cancer is unpredictable and that there is always a risk with any treatment and obviously trials, but I really don’t want that damage. I need the other organs working so I can live !
Treatment and cancer is a chicken and egg situation regards the risks but I’m determined to live a while and any helpful comments on this matter would be of great consolation . I tend to get paranoid sometimes
However I will go ahead with trials.
A good Sunday to you all.
Many regards
