Thanks again to everyone. I felt a little uncomfortable when after a period of reading and soaking up information I decided to post a few times. The friend category is different than family and patients themselves, but he was very dear to us and we wanted to be able to respond to him in any way appropriate. We could not of course have any input on his treatment. You helped give us words to converse with him and his family-a light down an unfamiliar road.

    Marcy,

I am sending you my condolences on the loss of your dear friend, and how you emphasised everyone’s cc presents differently and some live many years with the disease.

Unfortunately, my Dad’s story was similar, he died 7 weeks from diagnosis but was considered suitable for resection. However, when the surgeon operated it was a very different story and sadly he didn’t make it….

    Hugs, Katie

My husband’s best friend passed away this morning. According to his family he did not suffer any pain. He was 62. He was a high school music teacher and a beautiful french horn layer. His french horn quartet played at our wedding.

Although he died only two months after diagnosis I want to emphasize to others who are reading these boards that he was diagnosed very very late with multiple metastases and was not remotely considered for resection. He was also diabetic. He is not a typical example from what I read here.

I have followed many threads for the past two months and I am encouraged to see how many are finding ways to live with this disease. Thank you all for being here and being willing to share your stories and your suggestions. You do so much good.

    Marcy
