Nancy is correct. I was only suggesting you look into it, not move him in this very second.

I’m thinking of giving them a call for myself even though I’m not ready to check out. Just something else to organize.

Dear Sir – Hospice does not meaning giving up. I think Hospice can be a very option when some medical options are no longer valid. I think that is what Joolz was referring to. No one on this website ever gives up hope…that is why we are all here. We are all very open to our thoughts and I hope you know that we all care….very much….so here’s to every single day of living life! Hugs – Nancy

Thanks everyone. Glad I joined… have been reading the site for 2 years. Joolz-I must say, you kind of took the wind out of my sails this morning. While I have already been in touch with the Visiting Nurses and Palliative care (since my husband is on a morphine pump, it was required), I am not ready to “plan for hospice” and thankfully neither is he. We’ll know when or if it becomes time. Until then, one day at a time and enjoy every single one of them.

Hello SIR..I was able to retrieve two postings from our JeffG both of which show similarities to Arty’s current situation. http://www.cholangiocarcinoma.org/punbb/viewtopic.php?id=579

I’m not sure where you and Arty have found the incredible energy it takes to pursue treatment or cure for CC. The two of you are remarkable and it shows the depth of your love for each other. No matter what the future holds it will be that love that allows you to get through this. I will pray that you be given the strength to deal with whatever path you take.

You certainly have received more than a second opinion. Unfortunately if they’re all saying the same thing, you know that’s more than a ring of truth in it and for that I am sorry. I just started to go to Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia PA. If all goes well I’ll be in a clinical trial which begins late in April.

You should get a hold of your local hospital and/or your Onc for hospice information. Your husband may not need it now but it’s easier to have everything in place for when you do. Sometimes you just have to be practical.

Glad you found this forum. There are a lot of folks going through difficult times and it helps to share.

    Good luck!

Welcome — I haven’t been on the board very long, and haven’t made very many posts at all…the attitudes of all the members have really helped me change the way I am viewing my husband’s cancer — I’m beginning to truly understand the term “living with cancer.” You can’t let it defeat you; you must live the best life you possibly can.

Dear SLR, welcome to our wonderful family but sorry you had to join us. I must say you and Arty have really run the gauntlet! I know this Board will be surprised but yes, I am at a loss for words. You are both so very brave and yes, attitude is everything. The only suggestion I could make at this point is to look up on this site for the posts from JeffG. Jeff was one of our great mentors and was on this site from early on. He had mets to the spine and came up with many ‘new’ things to try and hopefully there would be a suggestion in his posts as to what you might try. I am sorry for the twists and turns you have had to endure but I am also in awe of your dynamic duo. Please keep us posted and wishing you the best.

In March 2009, my amazing husband and best friend, Arty, was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma. Within 2 weeks, he underwent surgery removing a tumor the size of a football from his liver. After he regained his strength, he began aggressive chemo treatments (gemcitabine and oxaliplatin) to try and kill any cancer cells that were left behind. In January of 2010, we bid farewell to a long, grueling and exhausting year and looked forward to a new start. Arty was done with treatment, was feeling well and had even returned to work and the gym. Life was getting back to normal.

However, in April of 2010 during his routine scan, the doctors picked up on some markings in his lungs. Although they didn
