Eli,
Yeah, I saw that too. We don’t use that extension because we approve each registration as it comes in. It’s not only disabled, but its uninstalled.

Apparently there is a bug in PunBB pun_stop_bots plugin that is responsible for random cut offs:
http://punbb.informer.com/trac/ticket/360
The bug was first found in version 1.3.*. As far as I can see, it’s still not fixed.
The work-around is to disable the plugin, as reported in the last post of this thread:

December 8, 2011 at 11:35 pm #55181EliSpectatorAnd just to round things up , here’s a thread where the LAST message is cut off.

Here’s a thread started by Andy where the first message is cut off. I guess you restored a different post?

December 5, 2011 at 9:48 pm #55179marionsModeratorThanks, Rick. You always find a way. Pretty amazing stuff you do behind the scene. I am awestruck by your competence, but then you already know that.
December 5, 2011 at 7:32 am #55178rickKeymasterOk, it looks like it is only a bug with Internet Explorer. I’ve seen a lot of webdeveloper boards dedicated to talking about it, and I may have found a fix.
I’ve implemented the coding change, keep using the forums for a few days until the old one works itself out of your cache. Let’s see if that works, at least for reasonable sized messages. Let’s try to keep the books to a minimum.
(and I went and tried it on my wife’s computer, you’re right, that’s pretty annoying.)
I can also suggest:
http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
and
http://www.google.com/chromeas fixes.
December 5, 2011 at 5:40 am #55177marionsModeratorRick….I have experienced the same issues as Margaret has. I use Internet Explorer and Windows 7.
December 5, 2011 at 4:59 am #55176rickKeymasterThanks Margaret,
Huh. That’s an odd problem. I can’t even imagine what would cause that.
Can you tell me what browser you’re using (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome) and what kind of operating system you’re using (Windows XP, 7 or Mac, etc.) and I’ll do some investigating.

December 5, 2011 at 4:44 am #55175mlepp0416SpectatorWhen replying to a post (such as this one) writing in this box, after you get to a certain point, the scroll bar on the right no longer works and it will keep reverting to about the middle of the scroll bar area and you cannot scroll up or down. Once that happens, then the screen (or box) area flickers and you cannot see what you are typing and cannot scroll or edit what you are typing because the scroll bar keeps reverting to the middle of the scroll bar area. It is very annoying. Once of the things I’ve done to resolve, if I’m posting something that is going to be very long (scroll bar just appeared) is to type my response in notepad and then just copy and paste from notepad into the ‘write message’ box.
I have only noticed this happening since the page was revamped. Prior to that the ‘write message’ area worked just fine.
I am certain that others have also experienced this as I’m seeing that others have (Now the page is reverting to the middle of the scroll bar area and in order to continue to see what I’m typing I have to keep typing, else it will show me the middle of my response.
Hope this helps for troubleshooting this particulular issue as it is very annoying.
Thanks,
MargaretDecember 2, 2011 at 9:32 pm #55174rickKeymasterUnfortunately, I don’t have anything older, neither does my database provider.
I’ll make sure to take steps in the future to make sure that it doesn’t happen again, but for now that data is lost.
(I have however found Andy’s entry cached in Google and I have restored it. If you find other posts cutoff, post the link here and I’ll see what I can do to restore.)
December 2, 2011 at 8:03 pm #55173rickKeymasterThanks, I’ve looked at my database backup and they’re cutoff there too. I’m checking with older versions of my backup to see what I can do. I’ll let you know.
December 2, 2011 at 2:33 pm #55172EliSpectatorHere’s a thread were the first message is cut off.

I’ve seen a few more threads like this.
December 2, 2011 at 9:09 am #55171jennybMemberI can’t see Andy’s story and would really like too
November 28, 2011 at 8:21 am #5978rickKeymasterWe’ve recently upgraded our message board software. You may have to clear the cache of your computer’s browser (click here for instructions) in order to make sure that you can login/post without any problems.
You should also be using Firefox, Chrome, Safari or a newer version of Internet Explorer (7,8,9) to get the most out of our site. If you are using Internet Explorer 6, you need to upgrade ASAP. (IE6 is more than 10 years old, click here to see if you’re using it.)
Check your I’ve heard of a couple people’s posts being cut off or other users not being able to upload longer posts due to a “size limit” error.
There is a limit of 35,000 characters, but that’s always been the case.
If you experience any errors like these, or other weird errors, please post them here.
Thanks!
