She will one day realize that Mom’s never really leave their children and that her Mom is all around her. You are also to be commended for such a tough job well done with caring and love.
June 1, 2010 at 8:23 pm #37771devoncatSpectatorPoor Emily. It must be very hard on her, Michele’s and your families. What a responsibility you have to help this little girl understand what has happened, but I am sure your compassion and love will guide you in this job.

June 1, 2010 at 8:15 pm #37770emilys-stepmomMemberFriends,
I have very sad news to share with you. Michele passed away on Tuesday, May 25th. She was only 37 years old and has left behind a wonderful family and most importantly a beautiful daughter Emily.
Please keep Michele’s family and Emily in your prayers.
Emily is doing okay. She is the most remarkable and brave little girl.
Thanks to this foundation and all the work you do to bring awareness to this awful, awful disease.
May 8, 2010 at 6:00 pm #37769gavinModeratorHi Erika,
Sorry to hear about Emily’s mum being rushed into the ER and I hope that she will be okay and I am glad to hear that the doctors were able to stop the bleeding. And also sorry to hear about Shimmer. As you say, this is a tough day for you all and I am hoping that tomorrow will be a much better day for you and the family.
My best wishes to you all,
Gavin
May 8, 2010 at 5:45 pm #37768darlaSpectatorWow Erika,
It sounds like you are having quite a day. Sorry to here about Shimmer on top of everything else, but I think Lainy is right. Before my husband passed away, he had been talking with my son and he made the remark that he will see Mutley again soon. Mutley was our Lasha Apso who we lost several years previous and we thought at the time that was the worst thing we had or would every experienced. He was part of the family. Boy were we ever wrong. So now I take comfort in thinking that Jim & Mutley are together taking care of each other! Hopefully some day Emily will feel the same and be able to take some comfort in that.
I hope the rest of your day is going a bit better. Take care and let us know how things are going.
Love & Hugs,
DarlaMay 8, 2010 at 5:26 pm #37767emilys-stepmomMemberThanks Lainy for your kind words. The Drs were able to fix the bleeding issue and sent Michele back home. Now we just pray and pray that she can make it through another day.
My husband and I just spent some time discussing the morning and he said the same thing you did, because Shimmer was Emily’s dog that maybe God took Shimmer so Emily would know that her mommy would always have something of Emily’s with her even in heaven.
Wow, what an eventful day… I hope my afternoon is a little more peaceful. Thanks again.
May 8, 2010 at 4:24 pm #37766lainySpectatorErika, We are so very sorry to hear about Emily’s Mom and also our sympathies to you on the loss of your Shitzu. I know this is going to sound really weird, but I always try to make some sense (at least to me) of what is going on. Perhaps Shimmer went to pave the way for Michelle? Take some deep breathes and know that you are a very strong & special woman and you will get through all this and God is going to be very good to you!
May 8, 2010 at 1:46 pm #37765emilys-stepmomMemberWell today has turned out to be another sad day. We woke this morning to a call to get Emily to her mother’s house ASAP. She was bleeding from the tube on her side. John and Emily were then diverted to the hospital where Emily was able to talk to her mom for a few minutes before she was rushed into the ER. Now, we wait.
And to top off this awful day, as John and Emily were rushing for the hospital, they accidentally ran over our Shitzu. RIP Shimmer.. we love you so much.. XOXO.
Its so hard to keep it together for the younger kids. I know God wouldnt give us more than we can handle, but I tell you I cant take much more.
May 7, 2010 at 6:42 pm #37764darlaSpectatorI will be hoping the same. Yes, those songs and important dates will bring the sadness to the surface. More prayer’s going out for Michele.
May 7, 2010 at 5:53 pm #37763emilys-stepmomMemberFeeling Sad today.. maybe its all these sad songs on the radio, maybe its because mother’s day on Sunday, UGH! I prayed today, the hardest I have ever prayed. I hope Michele can make it through Sunday, Emily needs one more Mother’s Day with her mom.
May 6, 2010 at 2:57 am #37762lainySpectatorErika, out heartfelt prayers and thoughts are being sent to Michelle and the whole family wrapped up in cyber hugs. You sound like a wonderful lady and Emily & Michelle are lucky to have you in their corner at this time. Please keep us posted.
