Dear Friends — I have not checked this website since Marv, my husband, passed away. I can’t believe how busy I have been. I am now planning his Memorial Service which will be June 26. I can’t believe that he is no longer here and searching this site for several months now seems like a dream. (a very bad one!!) I know that he is in a better place, no longer worrying about what is down the road. He only had one night of pain and that was alleviated with the injections of Dilaudid — a wonder drug as I see it. I will be checking this site every so often, and, praying for each and every one of you. God bless!!!!

Do take care love and light xxxxxx teresaMay 27, 2007 at 11:12 pm #15769marylloydSpectatorJean,
I am so sorry to hear of your husband’s passing. Your story of the baby and teddy bear is wonderful. I am glad you had that moment to lift your heart at such a sorrowful time. I hate that we are having to write so many notes of condolence lately. I just keep hoping that this is all a nightmare and that people can actually be cured of this insidious disease. It is obvious that most are not and we weep for all of your losses but continue to pray for our loved ones that remain in the fight. I hope you may continue to be strong and pray for your peace and comfort. MaryMay 27, 2007 at 6:56 am #15767jliu168MemberDear Jean,

May 27, 2007 at 4:10 am #15766seashellerMemberYou are all so kind with your loving words of comfort. I can’t believe how strong I have been through all this. There is one thing to be said about cancer. You rejoice in all the good days and live life to the fullest one day at a time. Another blessing was that my daughter and I each slept in a lounge chair on each side of the bed the night before Marv passed away. We each held a hand all night long. So many people never even get to say good-bye when death is sudden.
I must tell another special story. At the hospital here in Stuart, Fl., when a baby is born, there is a chimed melody of Rock-a-bye baby that is played throughout the hospital. The minute after Marv passed away, Rock-a-bye Baby played. A soul was taken and a new one was born. The nurse was at the foot of Marv’s bed and said, this is awesome. I had been holding a teddy bear for emotional support. It was a gift given to Marv by our son. I immediately thought how nice it would be to give the teddy bear to the new parents of the child. With permission, my daughter, the nurse and I went to maternity and presented the teddy to them. What a thrill it was – it completely overshadowed my extreme sadness for the moment. I had a God-given strength. God bless all of you. I will continue to pray for all of you on this site.
Keep the faith — there are many who have been cured of this horrible disease. I do forget at times — I am a breast cancer survivor. It’s been 15 years. Love, JeanMay 26, 2007 at 9:59 pm #15765jeffgMemberJean… My sincere condolence and heart felt sympathy. My thoughts express more than words! God Bless You! I’m saddened by your lost.
Jeff G.May 26, 2007 at 4:19 pm #15764tedpattyMemberDear Jean,
Patty and I are so sorry to hear of your husband’s death. Please accept our condolences. We read every post and find comfort and support from them. We rejoice when there is a good report and we cry with you when there is sadness. Like your husband, Patty had had no chemo or radiation. She was diagnosed with cc in Feburary of 2007. Her tumor was unresectable. I thought I was going to lose my dear Patty several times during her recuperation from the surgeries she went through. Your can read our complete story on the “Experiences” forum. I am happy to report that, for the last two months, Patty had been experiencing wonderful health and good appetite. She is on a lot of supplements but no chemo or radiaiton. We feel that we have had help from the Lord in this time of good health. We know that things could change at anytime and we are taking it one day at a time. We are Christians and love our Lord and Saviour and know that we will see our loved ones again someday when God puts and end to all this suffering and we will live throughout eternity with Him and our loved ones. Jean, take heart, you will see your husband again. Patty and I cling to that hope everyday and is such a comfort to us. We hurt with you at your loss but take heart.
Ted and PattyMay 26, 2007 at 6:54 am #15763devoncatSpectatorI dont have the words to express what I am thinking. In some ways it must be a comfort that he did not suffer and had a peaceful end. My condolences to you and your family.

May 26, 2007 at 4:46 am #15762seashellerMemberWith great sadness, I have to report that my husband passed away last Friday night, May 18.
He was only in the hospital a week and just had that one bout of pain. He was kept sedated most of the week. He did not suffer and was very peaceful. He went into a coma the last two days. He never had any treatment — chemo, radiation, etc. It ran its course. I’m thankful that he had reasonably good health while in Florida over the winter. He enjoyed good times. My best to all!!! ~~ JeanMay 19, 2007 at 10:49 pm #15761jeffgMemberJean …. Sorry to hear about your Husband. I too have been having # 10 pain this week. I have been doing alot of yard work (bending and twisting) and think I made my liver and rib tumors a little angry. It hurt so bad I couldn’t hardy move. Doctor increased my morphine and added loritab in between for any break throug pain. After three days of zombie land, I ‘m able to move around and do things again including sleeping without sitting up. However as stubborn as I am, I was out planting rubarb in the garden today; I did take it a little easier though. Last month I went to thr ER with the type of pains your describing and I was told I had popped a litttle tiny vien of which the blood leaking and the body absorbing it caused all the pain. Did you get and explanation of what caused your Husband’s pain ? I guess if there is inflamation we are prone to popping these little varacies. Hope he is feeling better now.
God Bless
Jeff G.May 19, 2007 at 7:22 pm #15760pderatMemberHi- I hope your husband is feeling better. The pain med is dilaudid. It usually can’t be given that frequently but each case is different. My husband was just diagnosed at the end of March and today is my first time on this board. Good luck to you both.
May 12, 2007 at 12:34 pm #478seashellerMemberMy husband was recently hospitalized for his weakness and low blood pressure. He has not been eating because of the lack of appetite and, as most already know, food just does not taste good.
He had soreness across his upper abdomen and his urine was a little dark — no jaundice yet. He went in mainly to get IV’s for fluid. He ate a little solid food for his dinner, fruit and vanilla pudding — just a couple spoonsful of each. Later in the evening he developed an excrusiating sharp pain across his upper abdomen like a knife going in him — a level 10 pain.
After two shots of morphine it still didn’t touch the pain. A dear angel of a nurse called the doctor and discussed giving him the drug called
DILAUDIN. He had a shot of that and it worked almost immediately — he went to sleep right away.
Don’t know how many additional shots he had during the night, but he called me this morning and said he had a real good night’s sleep and didn’t feel the after affects of the drug. Anymore morphine would have made him sick. Morphine can be given every 4 hrs., Dilaudin, as I understood it, can
be given every 2 hrs. Thought it was good info. to pass along. God bless all! ~~ Jean -
