Hi Lainy, thanks for that, never thought of it like that and if that’s right then I just hope I’m doing all I can. In terms of Gumball, it’s a car thing – I’m a member of a group called supercardriver, this w/e there are 30 of us going on a run with a dinner tomorrow (Sat) eve at a lovely hotel in the Scottish Highlands. It’ll be a nice little break for us if we get there – Moira had another non-stop coughing night last night. Simon

Hi Sti, in case you didn’t know it Moira probably gets some of her determination from you, you are her best partner and advocate. I’m not sure what the Gumball means in the UK but I lvoe Gumballs here and would go anytime if I am able to chew a few! Go and have a great time, results can surely wait a few days!

Hi everyone, since we last spoke, and following your advice, I made appts with Moira’s Dr, MacMillan Nurse, and spoke to the Christie Hospital (England’s specialist cancer hospital). Got scans taken and she is now taking codeine as well as quinine. Just need ro wait for the results, but the cough persists. Just need ro keep plugging away. Can you believe, Moira still wants us to keep to our commitment of doing our planned Gumball event up to Scotland and back this weekend! Where does she get her grit and determination from! Simon

    Hi Sti,
im glad to hear your wife is doing great (other than her cough). my mom has had Cholangio for the past 6 years. she had been doing well until her cough started last year around summertime. she went to her oncologist, he said it was probably allergies. but the cough persisted for many months. she started taking prescription cough syrup with codeine at night. since around May my mom started retaining a lot of fluid (ascitis). she started going in for regular parasentisis visits, taking average of 4liters of fluid every visit. if i were you i would get an ultrasound done to make sure she is not building any fluid in her lung or abdomen. we have been in hospital for the past month, her cancer has gotten worse, she has a list of ailments now, but it all started with a cough that got worse and worse. i dont mean to scare you and your wife’s cough may be something else entirely different from my mom’s ( i hope this is true) but it doesn’t hurt to check into it. i wish we had taken my mom’s cough more serious and not waited so long….i wish you and your wife luck. keep strong and positive. God bless

    Hi Simon,

How long has Moira had this cough for? I agree with what Lainy and Percy have said about getting this seen by the doctor, especially so if Moira is having difficulties swallowing. My mum has COPD and one of the problems with that is coughing a lot, and I mean an awful lot. One of the things that she has tried lately is hot water with a slice of lemon in it and that helps a bit with this. Maybe that is something that Moira could try as well?

    Best wishes,

    Gavin

    Hi,
You can try Robitussin to loose up the cough first;if after a few days the cough is still hard;then you need to see the doctor to check out whether it is asthma related or bronchitis after the Run for Life.
    He will prescribe medication accordingly.
    God bless.

Hello Sti. Glad to hear that for the most part Moira is doing well. I would definitely see her ONC or GP. It could be allergies or just about anything, but if it’s that hard of a cough she should be seen. Best of luck and again so glad to know she is back at work and feeling pretty good.

Hi everyone. Can anyone help with this, since doing the Race for Life etc and returning to work, my wife continues to do really well with this damned illness. Apart from general tiredness etc, Moira has a really hard cough – no symptoms of a cold or anything, the this cough is significant, and the coughing makes her throat sore. Moira also finds it hard to swallow sometimes. It’s nearly 3 yes since diagnosis – does anyone have any thoughts on this please. As ever, thanks in advance for your help. VBR. Simon
