Finally! My insurance company issued a pre-cert for a PET scan, which I’m having on Monday. Of course, the disclaimer is that it’s no guarantee of payment, and I guess I’ll just deal with that later. But the PET is coming at the perfect time. There is a possibility I have a spot outside my liver and the PET will show if it is “live” (or not). I’m a complete nervous wreck over this, and the possibility of surgery (resection attempt #2).
I’m having the PET done a different hospital other than the one I have my MRI/CT’s done. The oncologist where I get my chemo was able to give the insurance company what they needed, and poof it was pre-certed. This particular oncologist told me she was going to go through the national registry. I have not done any research on a national registry for PET but I think it’s called NOPR. Not at all sure how it works, but she obviously knew what to do. Thanks to all on this site that helped me to question the original denial.
Also, my case goes in front of the tumor board again next week. Hopefully they will think that resection will be helpful for me. But that one spot……
Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers next week. Thanks.
