Hi Jules,
I’ve got everything crossed that surgery will be a goer for your Mum. To have trust and faith in her doctor is a big part of the battle.

Thanks for that and I’m so glad that your mum thinks that Prof Lodge is great, and great as well to hear you say that they have such trust in him too. Your mum really is in such good hands there. I too hope that the scan results come back showing that surgery is possible for your mum and you know that we are here with you on this rollercoaster!
My best wishes to you and your mum,
Gavin
August 14, 2013 at 5:24 pm #74537lainySpectatorDear Jules, thank you for the update. It may be a roller coaster but with Prof Lodge at the front at least you have the security of being with one of the BEST!
I am so happy that this finally all came about and now you have a viable game plan. Fasten your seat belt as it sounds like first come the 2 Scans then the decision. Be strong as you are now in the best of hands! Wishing Mom the best.August 14, 2013 at 5:09 pm #74529jules1982MemberThank you for your replies and good wishes.
My mum saw Prof. Lodge today and he was great. He generally told her that her condition was very serious and he is unsure whether he can operate. However, he needs to do a further MRI and CT to be sure and he has recommended three months of chemo to start off with, to try and shrink the tumours. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to be there but my mum and dad said that he was lovely, compassionate and they have great trust in him. I just pray that at some point he’ll be able to operate on her. I think that we have quite a roller coaster ahead of us!

Whilst it was too late for Professor Lodge to help my Dad, Professor Lodge and his secretary were brilliant from start to finish. He personally emailed me back, helped chase scans and when we did get to see him, Dad was seen, had a CT scan and Professor Lodge even came out of a meeting to tell us the results, all in the same day.
Wishing you and your Mom all the luck in the world.

Just want to say that with Prof Lodge and getting a second opinion from him then your mum would be in good hands indeed. No personal experiences to report from me about him but he is very experienced regarding CC. Lets us know how things go.
Best wishes to you and your mum,
Gavin

August 8, 2013 at 8:29 pm #74532claremSpectatorHi Jules,
Great news I can say that on getting to see Professor Lodge. Was there anything on the AMMF site about him?
August 8, 2013 at 8:12 pm #74531jules1982MemberHi Lainy, Yes, good idea! I’ve just done that and a few posts came up. One is a story about a successful surgery but I wonder if there are any others. I certainly feel happy that my mum will get to see him. Fingers crossed!!
August 8, 2013 at 8:06 pm #74530lainySpectatorI know Peter Lodge is high on our list of Doctors. If you go to the top of the page here and click on Search then type in his name posts will appear about P. Lodge. Best of luck. Your Mum is with the tops.
August 8, 2013 at 7:48 pm #8740jules1982MemberHi all,
Well, we’re currently in the process of getting a second opinion for my mum. She has intrahepatic CC, and we’re just at the beginning of our journey.
We are planning on getting an appointment with Peter Lodge in Leeds, UK as we’ve heard some good things about him and that sometimes he operates on tumours that have been deemed inoperable elsewhere – as my mum’s has!
I was just wondering if anyone has any personal experience of seeing Peter or having treatment with him? I’d be really grateful to hear any stories, good or bad!
Thanks a lot,
Jules -
