I just wanted to tell you that I am sorry your Dad has been in such a bad way. Nobody should have to suffer in pain. I am glad you took him to the ER and got his pain under control. I really can’t stand when doctors who really have no clue about CC have to add their two cents worth. It seems like there are a lot of them!! I think dark urine is one of the signs they look for in diagnosing CC. I know my oldest daughter had a kidney infection once and her urine was really dark like that. I hope things turn around for your Dad. All the best to you and your family.

Thank you all for being here. I don’t know what I would do without you all. They did give Dad IV injections that stopped the pain and they are keeping him in the hospital until he can go to in-patient hospice. At least that is the plan for the moment. They wanted to start him on chemo but the ER Dr last night, (who was quite rude) took my brother aside and basically said you’re wasting your time with the chemo, it’s too advanced.
The ONC thought he could have chemo and thought it would help. So we are just feeling like we’re getting conflicting comments from everyone. Meanwhile, Dad is just trying to get through the day for the pain. Being in the hospital with the IV’s is the only thing that helps him. Last night my mom said his urine was dark, the color of tea. Does that mean the end is near?

I am sorry to hear about your dad. But taking him to the ER was the right thing to do for him as he will get the help that he needs right now there. Were you able to speak with the Onc to see about hospice? We are all here for you Lisa.

LisaAnn…. You made the right decision by taking your Dad to the hospital. The pain and vomiting will be addressed and your Dad will be made comfortable. Please, keep us posted. My heart is with you.

MarionDear Lisa Ann, call his ONC immediately and ask him if Dad is ready for Hospice and he will place the order. They will usually be out in 24 hours. Hospice does not mean the end as it can be ordered for up to a year but they will evaluate his pain and get him comfortable. Also advise the ONC that the pain RX is not working. What did they put him on? There are also RX for nausea. Suggestions: When they come out ask for a hospital bed (I put Teddy’s in the living room where it was bright and airy and had a big TV). If he is weak also get a walker. Teddy never balked at any of this as it made him so much more comfortable. Good luck and please let us know what happens. You are not giving up when the bottom line is comfort! You are taking care.
Dad has gone to the ER tonight with horrible pain and nausea. The pain seems uncontrollable. What should he be taking to stop it? The pills they send him home with do not seem to do any good. I think he is rapidly declining and needs to be in hospice. Please advise on what you all think we should do. I don’t want to give up, but I can’t see him suffer so much. I hope someone is up this late.
