The possible link to cholesterol drugs has made me think of asking this question on the board here.
When I was diagnosed with CC a year ago, my doctors were asking a lot of questions about the birth control pill. I am 53 and I thought it was strange that he was asking a lot about what I did when I was in my 20’s. I became a first-time mother later in life (age 48) after about 5 years of fertility drugs and finally a successful in-vitro fertilization. I know that your liver processes everything so I mentioned this. He was extremely interested and wanted the drug names, but nothing was mentioned since that time.
I have a sister-in-law that also went through fertility treatments later in her 40’s and about 3 years prior to my diagnosis, a large softball sized tumor was discovered in her buttocks (a site where we received hormone injections). She also had a rare cancer, but it turned out to be completely encapsulated and did not invade any organs….it pushed them aside. She did not go through chemotherapy afterwards, and has been cancer free for almost 5 years now.
Just a coincidence that 2 women who went through fertility treatments later in life came down with rare cancers, or is there a connection to the fertility drugs too? It’s frightening to think the very thing that gave me my son, may also take me away from him!
I’d be interested in knowing if anyone has heard or known of people that were on fertility drugs that were diagnosed with CC or another cancer.
Thanks for any feedback.
